Our favourite cartoon films.

Post by Natalie 9 » Wed Dec 07, 2011 12:50 am

Casually I have found on YouTube one of my favourite Russian cartoon films with English subtitles. Maybe it will be pleasant to you too. Unfortunately quality of video not so good, but a cartoon film very amusing.

On this link there is video of more good quality, but without subtitles:

(Unfortunately before a film they start advertizing. It is necessary to wait.)

Maybe somebody will tell, you loved what cartoon films in the childhood (or can be love now).

Awww... that was very cute. :D

We had all kinds of cartoons when I was growing up. It is difficult for me to pick a favorite.

Some were on television all the time and then we had cartoon movies. The movies were mostly from Walt Disney productions and are still considered classics. They are movies like, Snow White and the seven dwarfs; Bambie; Cinderella. There are a lot more but I can't remember all of them.

Cinderella was one of my favorites as a child. :)

one of my favourites happens to be a Russian one from 1956 called the 12 months.
It's the story of a little girl with a very mean stepmother and stepsister. They live in a kingdom ruled by a very bad-mannered orphaned princess.
One New years Eve the princess decides she wans snowdrops. Immediately. She offers a lot of gold to whoever brings her a basket of these flowers.
The evil stepmother sends the little girl out into the stormy winter night to get the flowers. In a clearing she meets 12 men who turn out to be the 12 months. They feel sorry for the little girl, December gives up his rule and March takes over for an hour so that the flowers grow. However, the little girl must promise not to tell anyone how she got the flowers.

Well, you guess it - she gets into trouble for not telling her stepmother nor the princess. So they force her back into the forrest and follow her secretly. The 12 months however punish them by turning the stepmother and stepsister into dogs and letting the princess almost freeze to death. The little girl pities the orphaned princess and they become friends.

Here is the Russian original from 1956: http://youtu.be/DeT9uU_wEYY
and this is a remake in English from the early 80s: http://youtu.be/S3BDyX1vmPE

I too loved a fairy tale about Cinderella in the childhood. Unfortunately in those days we in Russia have been almost deprived possibility to see Disney's cartoon films. I think, we lost in it much.

But we had a Russian cartoon film about Cinderella:

In it the drawing is much more modest, but beautiful music.

I at all did not know that in those days in Europe Russian cartoon films could be known.

And you know, in Russia in 80th the remake of this cartoon film too has been made:

yes, I saw that one on youtube when I was looking for the old version. The new one is very good, too. I believe this cartoon was shown in Germany because we have a very similar fairy tale. In our version, there is no spoilt princess but a friendly young prince. The stepmother sends the girl out in the deepest winter to find wild strawberries. On her way home she meets the prince. He immediately falls in love with her and takes her home to his castle.

Apart from this one and a series about Russian heroes, Russian cartoons are not very well known here. But almost all of your beautiful fairy tale movies are shown on German TV :)
I especially like those with the witch Baba Yaga and her walking house with the chicken feet.
My favourite one is about Father Frost (Дед Мороз) :

It is a very pity, that you can't enjoy the color of the demotic slang of this cartoon. But may be you'll like humor and nice picture. It was one of the first Russian plasticine animated films.
(If not be able to see the subtitles, you should click the rectangle under the video and adjust the language).
Enjoy. 8)
