Re: The Watching Thread #4

Last night's fare was The Old Guard. Pretty good action movie that is based on a comic series.

Re: The Weather: Hot and nowhere to go.

Flashes of rain around the metro this morning. I had just a few minutes of rain after 6am, so once again my mowing guy has to reschedule. It's sunny with some clowns at 88º (feels like 96º) @62% humidity. The forecast is calling for a high of 98º.

Re: Check-In 105:KP sings dubnium

Had a nice brunch with Greg today. Took a nap and got some writing and editing done. I hope to get in a walk before it gets dark. :hot: Gads, it's hawt and humid today. When you work on your cars, I hope you're in the shade and drinking plenty of cold fluids. My garage faces south, so if I'm workin...

No more arguing over whether Grant or Nixon was the most corrupt president.
Grant wasn't a corrupt President. He was a good guy who, unfortunately, hired on a lot of bad people. Nixon, on the other hand....

Re: Check-In 105:KP sings dubnium

:hot: Gads, it's hawt and humid today. I had the neighbor kid (early-20s) come over and help bleed the brakes on my car. Everything I had done with the vacuum bleeder did a good job of getting the air out of the system, so the 15-minutes we spent were good follow-up. I didn't get the dent out of the...

Re: The Watching Thread #4

I watched Captain America: The Winter Soldier (again), the other night just because it's a great movie. I finished the series Vexed and have moved on to Community via streaming. Three episodes in and I have to say I am impressed with the writing considering it was originally aired on NBC. The lack o...

Re: The Weather: Hot and nowhere to go.

Some big storms ripped through after midnight with winds from 60-90mph reported. I had quite the intense rain and accompanying lightning show. My grass is overdue to be cut as my guy has been out of town for the past week and was planning to come out this morning. Meanwhile, the temp is 72º this mor...

99º at near 50% humidity from the moisture left by yesterday's rain. The heat index is over 110º.

Re: Check-In 105:KP sings dubnium

Yesterday, the oral surgeon's office called to let me know I have more left on my dental benefits than were previously calculated, so I won't have to shell out as much for my upcoming implant surgery.

Re: Check-In 105:KP sings dubnium

HIDs are weird in that once one burns out, replace them as pairs; otherwise, the remaining functional light will burn out soon after. That's good to know, thank you. The package I bought included two lights, so I may as well use the other one. The right headlight is a bit harder to install, as it i...

Re: Check-In 105:KP sings dubnium

Oohh, I've always loved this song! I'm happy to report that my headlight was successfully replaced. If your vehicle has HID bulbs, better make sure you have another one, because the passenger headlamp will burn out in short order. HIDs are weird in that once one burns out, replace them as pairs; ot...

Re: The Weather: Hot and nowhere to go.

Today was supposed to be day number whatever in a string of hot days. That was all fine and dandy save for the ever darkening skies. Early on in the morning the radio was reporting storms moving into the northern part of the state from Kansas. During a morning meeting, people up in Edmond said it wa...

Muggy this morning at 85% humidity. It was quite the unpleasant walk to the mailbox. Heat advisory until 7pm Saturday evening. Today is looking at a high of 96º by 3pm. No idea what the heat index will be.

Re: The Weather: Hot and nowhere to go.

It's weird. Loads of clowns with humidity around 60%. The temperature is 88º but feels like 97º. We're at the start of a streak of hot weather days. If the clown cover continues, it's going to be very bearable. I still don't go outside, but when I am outside it doesn't feel bad.

Re: 2020 Politics: On the Hill of Megiddo

^I agree that (at the moment) the above scenarios are unlikely. But Trump's MO throughout his Presidency has been to simply ignore the law. He has done is best to ignore subpoenas, court rulings, and even legislation from Congress- then basically daring someone to do something about it. As Ted Rall...

Re: Check-In 105:KP sings dubnium

Happy Wednesday, everyone :hello: Today I have lunch with a former student, outside at Einstein's Bagels. Some work-related stuff to do and some book-editing to do, too. Later this morning is my colonoscopy. I'm a pretty unhappy camper right now. But, it'll soon be over and I can actually eat somet...

Re: 2020 Politics: On the Hill of Megiddo

Here's the scenario that I fear most -- How Trump is engineering the system to remain President even if he loses the November election. That's all BS. The Constitution is quite clear on the matter. The President's term expires January 20th at noon after four years. These articles come out all the t...

^^ Those are great shots. And they seem pretty comfortable with you there.
The only reason they're comfortable is because my living room windows are tinted. When the sun strikes that side of the house, the windows are so dark to people outside that inside movement is hidden.
