Re: Author's Thread #12

Is it using Submittable? I've used that for lots of different presses ranging from sci-fi to romance. I think it's just a catch all apps for publishers.

Re: Author's Thread #12

I got it in my brain to write a short birthday-themed story to give out on my birthday. So I did that instead of working on my novel. I'm a genius.

I started a short story about Valentine's day for my publisher's anthology. Have to have it finished before August 15th so oops.

Boo! I swear publishers don't want anyone new. Just the same ol' same ol' they already know.

I finally kicked off my Street Team. Got 8 takers so that's something. It's gonna be a slow burn I imagine.

Re: Author's Thread #12

It's my magnet book, and it was already in an anthology so this way it'll hopefully lead to people clicking to check out my profile and more books.

Re: Author's Thread #12

I published Gettin' Lucky on amazon, but I need some help getting the price down to free. Go to the page for it -- https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T2R84HN then scroll down to the "Tell us about a lower price" and put in 0 and the link to it on smashwords. https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/944207 Th...

I figure it's finally time to get the ball rolling on setting up a Street Team. https://www.facebook.com/groups/ellenmintstreet/ On Friday I'll send out a mass email to see who's willing to join up.

Re: Author's Thread #12

My one book is off to line-edits, I should really start working on the sequel, and my short story was accepted into an anthology.

Re: Author's Thread #12

I sent off my first round of edits. I suspect my editor and I shall do battle often as she loves adding had and I freaking hate that word.

Re: Author's Check-in #11

It's really easy to have a run-on sentence when no semicolons are allowed.

I've also learned that Brits don't use spun. They use span instead. Like "He spun the bag" becomes "he span the bag." I am so confused.

Re: Author's Check-in #11

No colons either. I have no idea how I'll make up fake movie titles and the like.

Got back the first round of editings and apparently semicolons aren't allowed. I guess they aren't sexy enough.

Re: Author's Check-in #11

Direct2Digital does look promising, though I'll have to look into it more to be sure- as it does sound almost a little too good to be true. Meanwhile I put in some work on a novella currently titled Severance Pay . Honestly, I think they're the go-to for people trying to free themselves from Amazon...

Re: Author's Check-in #11

I've decided to try publishing Dwarves in Space through Direct2Digital and, I have to say, it is really nice. I'll still probably go directly through Amazon for my books, but D2D is a great option when I want to go universal.

Re: Author's Check-in #11

And I just learned that they changed whoever was hosting the bracket so my character getting that far doesn't even matter. Now there's a whole different one. AH!!!! I am never doing this con again. It was so much work for no gain.
