Sprained foot, not ankle, apparently. So working from home for a week to ten days.

Re: Infirmary Thread #17: Pass the Bandages

Looks like one of my falls resulted in a delayed-symptom sprained ankle, it's all puffed up and swollen in the last 2 or 3 days. All that walking around must have kept fluid from building up and now I'm home it's making its presence known.

Re: Check-In #98: How have you been?

Well, Fix Us (the Edinburgh Fringe show I'm here supporting) just had a fairly major British comedian Tim Vine (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Vine?wprov=sfla1) come see today's performance. He was gracious enough to allow our actors to drag him onstage for the audience participation segment.

Re: Infirmary Thread #17: Pass the Bandages

Thursday: tripped up steps into cafe and did my toe in, now missing a toenail as a result.

Yesterday: pulled leg muscle slightly while darting across road, then later tripped and bashed knee and back while walking with friends.

Edinburgh is not the best place to have naff eyesight.

Re: Check-In #98: How have you been?

Well it's hitting 38 in London today. And heat waves are relative - we're used to max 25-28 in the UK, with limited air conditioning to cool homes and offices. I work in a huge building where the windows open and it has slats in skylights so they say it's naturally ventilated and doesn't need aircon...

Re: The Weather: Summer is Upon Us

It's going to hit 38c (100f) today. Already 24/25c at 7AM. And our subway system is not really air conditioned, so it'll be hotter there.

SDCC news also tells us that Sirtis (Troi) and Frakes (Riker) will be in it. Along with Hugh (the Borg who got disconnected from the Collective in I, Borg). :D

Re: Author's Thread #12

Hyperlight 11 chapter 3 is done. :) I decided to keep what I'd done for the first two chapters rather than starting over. This is going to be slow, especially with the Fringe in the middle, but hopefully I'll have it to Rick by end-September.

Hyperlight 9 - The Adults of Tomorrow

The crew of the Asimov are looking forward to a break before their final term of exams, but the Admiralty have plans for their hard-earned vacation. Tasked with escorting a group of human and alien children to Ottavar VII, a Kesrami colony world, with Admiral Hinsharis visiting friends on the other ...

Re: sorry :(

If I understand you correctly, there is a command line that makes the DB repair the table? I know only very little SQL syntax :( What would the command look like? Just "repair table sessions" ? Yes, that's a direct SQL command line I posted. Replace sessions with whichever table is crashed. If Sess...

Re: sorry :(

What SQL type are we on? I'm guessing MySQL?

If so, and you get a table crash again, you can try:

repair table sessions

Or replace sessions with whatever has crashed. That way you don't need to drop and reload the table.

Re: sorry :(

We used to get that infrequently on the old site, I think there's a setting re how long to keep session data for and the table just keeps filling up until it crashes.

Re: Author's Check-in #11

I've also learned that Brits don't use spun. They use span instead. Like "He spun the bag" becomes "he span the bag." I am so confused. In that case, I've been spun a few lies over the years... :p I think it varies based on what sounds best tbh. And no, actually we don't tend to use whilst in idle ...
