Re: Star Trek: Picard (aka ST:P)

Me? I could stand a rewind to half my current age, but then I'd play forward to the end of the reel until my leader flaps in the breeze like a Crusader's pennant, remembered only vaguely --half-corrupted-- in contradictory versions of history. Let another wear my boots. Hmmm.... Me? I could stand a...

Re: Who's here and who's under quarantine?

Imagine you were recalled to Starfleet at slightly reduced rank, but were not sure of the exact legalities, and neither your lawyer [who didn't handle professional issues, anyway] or former malpractice insurer has returned your calls. That's my week. At least I have my own back-stock of masks/gloves...

I want RJ to live forever, too. Me? I could stand a rewind to half my current age, but then I'd play forward to the end of the reel until my leader flaps in the breeze like a Crusader's pennant, remembered only vaguely --half-corrupted-- in contradictory versions of history. Let another wear my boots.

I haven't had time to post, and I've been worried the next episode my air before I can say this: PLANTS.

Babies are horrible creatures-- if we didn't evolve to love them against all reason we'd be extinct.
As much as I adored (and was impressed by) my kids since their birth, having met other people's babies, I can't say extinction isn't a valid option.

Re: Funny/Humorous YouTube Videos

I wish I could figure out why these videos won't embed. I can tell you what to do, but I don't have server access to do it. Go into the ABBC3 PHP files (or folder). Find the file for BBvideo. There may be a few. The correct one(s) will become evident if you look inside. Look at the file listing all...

Re: Star Trek: Discovery Season 2

Now this is intriguing. You made movies as a kid. Get 'em up on YouTube. :D I doubt that even any scrap outtakes survive. The thing about 8mm is that it was just as much work to splice/save outtakes as the main reels.Actually, it would usually have been MORE work (at least the way I did it): outtak...

If it was the call room at BCH/BMC in the mid-late 90s, I bet it was exactly the same incident

Tell me "Big Breaths". I need more stories for my anecdotage.

Re: Star Trek: Discovery Season 2

I just caught up with a few early S2 eps (E4 E5 E6, I think) I find Pike personable and engaging. I really liked Saru in many many ways until his return to his homeworld (I take it the Prime Directive is now "Force-alter the evolution of pre-warp civilizations without asking them; feel free to attac...

Re: Server upgrade, April 2019

Orphy , I have a problem I can't solve. Maybe you have an idea how to deal with it? Ages ago I set up a redirect that rerouted everyone from the domain's root address to a board's index file. I have deleted the board now as it's no longer used but the reroute still works. I can't find the reroute s...

Re: Server upgrade, April 2019

Long story short: Prim immigrant grandmother decides to use her granddaughter's "feminine hygiene spray" before a GYN exam. Except it turned out to be a vivid-colored sparkly spray-on hair dye instead. 70 yo OBGYN has seen it all, doesn't miss a beat. He simply says "Fancy!" and proceeds with the ex...

Re: The Orville - Season Two -- SPOILERS

I haven't been around since [Note to self! page 3!] and there's too much to read/comment on, but I just saw S02E07 [Moclan heterophobia]. It was really interesting. The extended [if slightly hackneyed] staring off into space did as good a job of conveying the emotional misgivings/regret of the varia...

Re: Server upgrade, April 2019

Whoa. Just checked in after being mostly offline for over a month. Sorry I wasn't around to help. I've done several PHP upgrades over the years, but I must confess that none have been problematic. Possible because I didn't leave anyone any choice. I switched the board software over in one swoop [i.e...

Oh, yeah, I saw those posts. The answer is probably just that the trunk isn't really attached. In addition to his second esophagus, he's got a second mouth and he keeps the trunk inserted most of the time. I note that The Lads have a tough time getting into shirts with their mono-attached trunks [I...

Not a JUG of Twisted Tea, I hope. Oh well, allowing for seasonal adaptation (definitely missing this year), this may be the first good snowstorm we've had since 2017. Go for it. (However, looking at the snapshot that YouTube chose, I can't help but recall that "Thought" was my nickname from '83-'86.)

Dawn of the Dead at the Orson Welles and Rocky Horror at Exeter Street. :D Both gone now, of course. I think they both burned down. I didn't know about Dawn of the Dead (and I lived a couple of blocks from the Orson Welles for years!). Or maybe I did and ignored it b/c zombies are definitely not my...

Yeah, we had something like that when I was kid.

We called it "that tree by the driveway". Bees in the summer, robins and flowers in spring, pine cone-type things in the fall (it was actually a very tall gardenia shrub)

https://img-9gag-fun.9cache.com/photo/aj897P1_460s.jpg This is kinda how I felt when I saw Carrie Fisher in "Blues Brothers". I once had a conversation with a younger person whose memories of Blues Brothers were no hazier than mine, but because they hadn't seen both films at the peak of their popul...

Meanwhile, though I know we have an election coming next year, I'm thinking of organizing a small escape from the Trump-verse to the Wakanda-verse. I realize this may mark me as a tr...

Re: Funny/Humorous YouTube Videos

The first line of The Fall Guy 's theme song always puzzled me: "Well, I'm not the kind to kiss and tell, but I've been seen with Farrah". Given that Lee and Farrah had separated the year before he signed up for The Fall Guy . I always wondered if the studio had to talk him into accepting that line ...
