That's interesting that you have extensive experience with wild pigs. I've never seen one in the wild. Except on TV which doesn't count. Bavaria is literally crawling with wild boar. A pack is led by the alpha-female. She's the only one who is permitted to mate. Alas, inexperienced hunters frequent...

here we only do titers if it will indicate immunity or document the need for a vaccine or booster, none of which applies to the Corona virus as yet. I read a rather unpleasant report last week: a hospital in Ratisbone examined approximately 70 nurses and doctors from another hospital who had all go...

Re: What Dreams May Come.

I used to never remember my dreams - propably an auto-protect mechanism as I frequently have nightmares. A few years ago I made a therapy against depressions (which, as it turned out later, had been caused by an undiagnosed diabetes) and ever since I can remember my dreams again if I wake up abruptl...

Over here, the health insurance pays. But only if there is a serious reason for the test - for example if you apply for a job in a nursing home or hopital. As the tests are so imprecise, we rarely use them. We don't even do mass tests for the virus unless in exceptional cases. for example in hospita...

^ same here. In the National park area I occasionally come across lynx or wolve traces but in 26 years I've seen wolves only twice. The instant they notice a human they'll try to make themselves invisible and slink away. Lynxes tend to be active at dawn and during the night so that I only find their...

Yes,that fits in with the spikes, Rick. If last sunday you didn't make one it is indeed you causing those spikes. :D

The guests appear to be on a schedule, too. There are 2 as usual at this time of day.

I got some organic and sun-ripened strawberries in the market yesterday and shall have the leftovers for supper today, together with whipped cream that I pepped up with matcha powder (if you'd like to try that yourself, add the matcha only at the very last seconds of whipping the cream, else it'll c...

over here, we got permitted to visit family again (2 people per household). But my sis and I decided not to visit our parents yet. We think it's too risky for them. In their district the rate of new infectzions is low - 1,6 people per 100,000. In my district it's ten times higher and I fear I might ...

cold, wet and windy but then today is the 4th of the "ice saints" (St Pankrazius, Servatius, Bonifazius and Sophy) where we frequently get frost.
Tomorrow it's supposed to get warmer again and after the ice saints it's time to plant the tomatos out.

me and 2 guests at the moment I just started a tour through the server control panel and had a look at the access data. Around 7 pm EST / 2 am GMT there's a large bandwidth peak every day except for last Sunday. I thought it was Rick making a backup but it could also be the many guests (possibly bot...

JIm and Santy asked for https. As I just discovered we appear to have had it for at least the last 24 hours. Just change your bookmarks from http to https to use it.
Still it's a bit weird. I'll ask the tech about it. His call is due any moment

Congratulations! This calls for Bavarian Rohrnudeln (literally: oven noodles - sweet fluffy yeast duplings baked in the oven and served hot or cold with custard or compote. You can also fill them with prunes, cherries or strawberries) https://www.daskochrezept.de/sites/default/files/styles/43l/publi...

we'll get some frost this week (normal for this time of year) and then my tomatos and cucumbers can finally get out. The cucumbers are crazy: the plants are only 20 cm (8 inches) high and already have flowers!

It's a bit drizzly here today and the forecast predicts a thunderstorm and the temperature drop usual for this time of year. We shall get mild frost again for a few days and afterwards it's time to plant the tomatos out :)

Our host, Lunarpages, has been bought by HostPapa. I shall send them the ques...

My GP could have diagnosed that if only he had listened to me and not stared at his screen all the time. When I finally got the diagnosis and treatm...
