What do you think is the probability, from 0 to 100%, that Trump will be re-elected?

I would say about 40%, depending on how the variables go. What about you?

I'm thinking more like 65%. Back in 2016 I thought his chances were something like 5%, so what the hell do I know?

I suspect it's all having no effect. But it has to be done.

Do you remember the Nixon debacle of 1972-74 or were you too young at the time to pay attention to such things?

Would you believe I still have the newspapers that I saved at the time? And that I watched him come on the air and resign?

That's amazing!

How did you and your family react when Ford pardoned him?

Let me re-phrase: How many American cars have you owned compared to foreign-made cars? Back in the 80s, I drove American made cars until they drove me crazy. Since 1991, every car I've owned has been a cheap, reliable Japanese car.

Would you believe I mostly don't remember what model cars I've owned, and am only vaguely aware of what's American and what's foreign?

(By the way, in case you didn't get my last reply, the commercial jingle for Ford used to be "Have you driven a Fooord... lately?" I apparently know more about the commercials than the cars. )

Only vaguely aware of what you drive? That's amazing. I think you're the first person I've asked who pays that little attention to cars.

So that tells me we should change the subject.

When's the last time you saw a movie in a theater?

Could it actually have been eleven years ago, when Kingdom of the Crystal Skull came out?

Well, you do see many more live plays than I do. What makes live performances so much more compelling than filmed ones?

Are they more compelling, or just more immediate?

I would think it's the immediacy -- along with the possibility of error, kind of like watching a tightrope acrobat.

When watching a live play, do you prefer musical, comedy, or drama?

Is it the same Christmas play each year or do they shake things up from year to year?

Would you consider alternating between A Christmas Carol and It's A Wonderful Life shaking things up?

Yes. Two classics I can never watch enough times. What movies or plays (besides those) can you never see enough times?

I've seen Casablanca a thousand times. But I've never seen Forbidden Planet. What exactly am I missing?
