Actually, I don't remember that. Was there really a fear that radiated food retained the radiation?

Is it surprising that people with a vague, uninformed fear of GMO would have a vague, uninformed fear of microwave ovens?

And what about the anti-vaxers? Why are they so paranoid about scientifically safe vaccinations?

[RJDiogenes]

Did you know that religious fanatics have opposed vaccinations for centuries, because preventing disease is interfering with god's work?

[scottydog]

Do anti-vaxers avoid dentists, doctors, and optometrists? Don't they know that without modern medicine half of them would have died before the age of three?

[RJDiogenes]

Haven't you ever read stories about kids who have died because their parents withhold medical treatment?

[scottydog]

Do those parents end up going to prison?

[RJDiogenes]

Don't parents have the right to make medical decisions for their children, in the absence of a court order to the contrary?

[scottydog]

Aren't there child neglect laws on the books?

[RJDiogenes]

Do you think it would ever be possible to find a satisfactory balance between parental rights, religious freedom, and governmental responsibility?

[scottydog]

Isn't "satisfactory" in the eye of the beholder? When it comes to laws and politics, won't there always be one group or another who will be unhappy?

[RJDiogenes]

If we make everybody equally unsatisfied, is that a satisfactory substitute for everybody being equally satisfied?

[scottydog]

Because everyone's a victim these days, spreading the victimhood around evenly is probably all we can aspire to. Is that depressing?

[RJDiogenes]

Definitely depressing, but the real question is: How dangerous is it?
