^Me too. As for the goofiness, it might have strayed a little into that zone- but not as bad as the cringe-worthy getting stoned in an alien casino plot from last season. At least this was a good homage.

Well, that was pretty cool, for an 80s homage. You can't beat the 70s, but they did okay.
I came of age in the 80s so it worked better for me. I didn't watch much TV in the 70s and what music I heard was my mother's, who was still in a 60's hangover. By the 80s I was watching more TV and was becoming aware of contemporary music.

Mack was well and truly broken by the deaths of his parents, so much so that he grew a Moses beard while remaining bald-- maybe male-pattern baldness is his superpower
I was wondering that myself.

Another period opening, but other than the fact that Daisy's mom was present, the fact that they were in 1983 was rather incidental to the plot. But then again other than Malack jr showing up at Afterlife and recruiting Daisy's half-sister, that part was mostly filler. Though it at least help Yoyo get her powers back, but expanded them as well.

I figured that must be another retro logo, but I didn't recognize the style being homaged.

It was nice to see Jaiying again, except that once again everyone is running roughshod over the timeline. 2020 is going to be completely unrecognizable when they return (which is probably a good thing, I suppose). It looks like Afterlife is doomed and, as Mack implied, Daisy will never be born. Sam Beckett is gonna be super freakin' busy after all this.

I got a big kick-- no pun intended-- out of May and Yoyo's meditation technique. But, hey, whatever gets you through the night. Funny how that whole Yoyo thing was all in her mind from the start.

I'm not sure if I like where they seem to be heading with Coulson, though. Several of his comments, like wondering how many ones and zeros it takes to make him happy, and his wry reaction to recharging being like taking a nap, make me wonder if he will decide to power down for good. I hope not, because eternal Robo-Coulson appeals to me. And we're all just programming when you come down to it, whether we're wetware or firmware. The bit about being thirsty for a year and a half was a nice bit of characterization, though. That is one super-advanced LMD.

Sousa is adjusting very well to being Buck Rogers, and I hope they have something good in mind for the character. He deserves a prominent position in 21st century SHIELD. And Daisy is still doing time in the healing tube, but I don't think we know yet if she's lost her powers for good. And, yeah, is that really Daisy's half sister? If so, that may affect how the plot resolves when they both find out.

It kind of reminded me of the opening sequence of the original Tron.

Jaiying was captured and tortured by HYDRA at some point so it may not disrupt things too badly. And they may be able to liberate Afterlife from them later.

He did seem to be having an existential crisis in this one. Understandable but I hope it works out in the end.

Maybe. I can't clearly remember the circumstances of her involvement with that guy. Calvin, was it? I think he was supposed to be Mister Hyde from the comics.

I hope so. This has really always been the Coulson Show when you come down to it.

I was watching an episode of Six-Million Dollar Man this morning and it occurred to me that they missed an opportunity when they traveled to the 70s-- some slo-mo action and springy sound effects would have worked well for Robo-Coulson.

That was an emotional roller-coaster.    :sweetlove: :Ahhh: :sob:

No period-titles this time- but we got 2 of them. This was a pretty good episode and was better than I expected. Time-loop plots are usually a little hard to pull off due to the built-in lack of urgency- but they managed here with them getting ever closer to the vortex with every loop. And some good mysteries were thrown in like who was trying to kill Gemma? Why was Enoch programmed? Daisy and Sousa got some serious bonding on (I wonder if they'll run with that or not since only Daisy will remember it). There was also some dark foreboding after Gemma got her memories back since she started breaking down emotionally.
Then that ending. :sob: Probably one of the most heartrending in the show's run. :bye:

Yeah, wow, that was a lot more than I expected from a time loop episode. I thought it would start them on a path to figuring out how to undo all the time damage done by the Comelyones, but instead it was all about things happening on a personal level.

More and more we're seeing that Coulson, despite his usual air of frivolity, is very unhappy with his current condition, and equally unhappy that he is there because of someone else's decision. This does not bode well for the future of the character. As I've said, this has always been the Coulson Show and I think we're facing the prospect of them ending together.

And then we have that Daisy and Sousa bonding thing going on. I have to say, I did notice some chemistry going on there, but I had it in my head that he was too old for her-- but, thinking it through, that's not really the case. This is a pretty cool development as far as I'm concerned.

And, almost unnoticed among all the other shenanigans, poor Deke was freaking out watching his grandmother die. Deke has levels.

The interminable circle of time loops ranged from agonizing to inappropriately hilarious. The sequence where Enoch repeatedly beat the crap out of everyone cracked me up. Over and over. "Is Deke dead?" "Yes." "Should we be sad?" "No."

But ultimately it was Enoch who saved them all, by very phlegmatically removing his own vital organ for Gemma to use as a spare part. As she and Deke worked out the technical solutions off camera, Daisy and Coulson sat with him while he slowly died in one of the most drawn-out and heartbreaking scenes of all time. He lived an unimaginably long life that was so lonely that he didn't even know he was lonely, but he managed to find friendship before he died-- and his final thoughts were of his best friend Fitz. So much for my hopes that he would be a permanent part of the elite SHIELD team by the end. And, of course, one has to wonder, since he's a robot, why they can't just plug his thingamajig back in, but I suppose there will be reasons.

I guess his premonition that the team would soon come to an end was supposed to be ominous, but it struck me as an obvious red herring. I think things will turn out well for at least most of the crew.

^She lost her memory again during the loops.

They still stuck int he 80s and things are really going pear shaped. Garret's back and now has teleportation powers. Nobody's parents are getting out of this alive. Afterlife's been liberated for the most part, not that it seems to matter now.
I'm not sure how- or if- they're going to be able to get the timeline fixed after this.

Or perhaps that's the point. The movies have generally ignored the series, so maybe this will be the explanation why.

I was never able to get it on the ABC site, which is why I started buying them on Amazon. I checked out the comments and this is happening to a lot of people. Some posts seem to imply that it has to do with a delay in the season pass. This would make sense because last week when I went to buy the episode, it offered me the whole season for four more bucks, so I took it.
