I'm voting for Biden if he doesn't self-destruct. After Trump we'll need someone with extensive experience to get things put back together. Warren would probably be my second choice, though none of the likely winners thrill me. But I will vote for whomever it will be.

Warren is from Massachusetts and looks like a schoolmarm, so I suspect she'd have trouble in South and Midwest. I was thinking that Kamala Harris screwed up her chance to be Biden's VP, but now I'm not so sure-- I think it would cement his reputation for being able to play well with opponents.

In other news, it looks like ranked voting will likely be on the ballot next year in Massachusetts.

How will that work? Is it likely to yield an outcome that better represents the people's will?

That's a good point. I don't like Joe, but his experience would come in handy in mending the country.

Yes! Basically, it means that you get to rank the candidates in order of preference or designate your second choice-- so that you can vote for an independent or third-party candidate without the risk of electing the candidate you least want. This means more people are likely to vote and vote for independent or third-party candidates, and those candidates are more likely to win, which means the dominance of the Republicans and Democrats will be weakened, and eventually, with any luck, the two-party system will disappear. It essentially gives people more choices and more of a voice. On the national level, we need to combine this system with the elimination of the Electoral College, so that we can have presidents who are qualified to be president, and not just qualified to win elections.

^^ I love it and I approve. How can we make this happen in every state?

It happened in Maine last year, so one down and forty-nine to go. There's currently an initiative underway in Virginia.

California is trying to keep people off the ballot if they haven't released their tax returns. Naturally it's being challenged in court.

Yeah, I saw that on CNN. Somehow I don't think they'll get very far with it.

Oh, that cracked me up. Not that Greenland couldn't become a part of the States, because it's been considered before, but it's a self-governing territory-- you don't buy it, you send an invitation.

I'm planning on retiring there when the ice melts. There's going to be this nice inland sea in the interior.
