^And the GOP is still trying to overturn the election. Clumsily, even laughably, but still trying.

That ship sailed a long time ago.

And a warning about the future.
It is truly unsettling to think about: what if Trump had been... competent?

^ But I think he was competent... or as competent as a populist, authoritarian leader needed to be. Think about it -- he was a raving lunatic who got elected in 2016 and nearly got re-elected in 2020, despite a collapsed economy and a failed management of a pandemic. That tells me that he knows what he's doing, not in terms of leadership skills, but in terms of selling his leadership skills.

No. He's a narcissist who doubles down on the "Yes me" who give him the adulation he craves. He did little to expand any kind of appeal, he gas lights, and resorts to threats and intimidation. Fortunately, the election is one means we were able to stop him. The others were the fact that he had no clue how the government functions and came in thinking he could order around or fire members of the house and senate. He ran for office as a joke and a publicity stunt that backfired spectacularly. I believe he would have handily won re-election if he had he been competent about handling the Covid outbreak. He instead wanted to make everything about him, tune out, whine on Fox news, and resort to bigotry (references to the "kung flu", the China virus, etc.) His easy to win trade war screwed over a lot of bystanders with zero results. He is the victim of his own malfeasance with more to come. I do not believe he is going to walk away from this, nor are his family.

Trump is a glaring example how "an outsider" is not suitable for elected office, let alone these arrogant CEOs (i.e. Howard Schultz, Mike Bloomberg, et al) who believe they are suited for the office of the Presidency.

This has worried me all along.

The Donald is not competent at all. He is seriously mentally ill to a degree that would leave him homeless or institutionalized if he were not rich. He's failed at everything he's ever done in his life, but he accidentally struck a vein to mine and the Democrats failed worse than he did.

Luckily, I'm seeing more than more articles like this. The question is, how many will finally start to listen, and how many will continue to hide behind the "third-person effect?"

Michigan has finally certified the vote for Biden.
And amazingly the General Services Administration has finally acknowledged that Biden won..

Up next: fun with the Electoral College.

I was wondering if the GSA would act when one of those contentious states finally certified the results. I'm sure The Donald tweeted up a storm.

^Same here. There's talk of an attack on Iran. He's still trying to flip states. Heaven only knows what will happen when the Electoral College meets.

I don't think there will be trouble with the Electoral College. Most States have laws now, I think.

I've been looking at some of the post-mortem polls on Real Clear Politics. There's been a lot of ink spilled on why the polls were so off this election so I wanted to see just where and how much. Interestingly the RCP average for Pennsylvania was right on the money and Nevada and Arizona were reasonably close. Most of these were in Trump's favor with the interesting exception of Georgia where Biden actually outperformed the polls.
But I did notice something odd in the polling graphs towards the bottom. In many of the states Biden either started declining the polling average while Trump sometimes gained around October 29th to 31st. It's almost like an October Surprise happened with no obvious October Surprise. Makes me wonder if the effect of the so-called "surprises" are overrated and the polls just natural swing like that towards the end of a campaign.
I should also think about getting a life since I'm sitting here on a holiday morning thinking about political polls.

Trump won't authorize an attack on Iran. The hawks have mostly left the administration, and Trump has proven by his past actions he won't strike first. That's about his only decent quality as CiC.
