Happy Thursday, everyone :hello:

Today I'll try to get some writing done. I really need to mow the lawn but we keep getting rain, making mowing impossible. Tonight The Wife and I are going ballroom dancing :dancer:

Mainframe training? :wtf: :as: I refuse to EVER touch another mainframe for the rest of my days. My condolences.
I didn't know mainframes still exist. I don't think I've heard that term this century.

Good morning!

Today, I have a hair appointment, so I will be able to catch up with my old high school friend, while she cuts my hair. After, I need to purchase a Father's Day card for my stepfather-in-law, and then do 2 loads of laundry, and some cleaning. Addie is at her father's house, so she may come visit me, this afternoon.

I found a solution to getting these people out of my basement. My friend, whom I let stay for a few months, is getting too comfortable, and is not doing what she is supposed to be doing to move forward in life. She also has her deadbeat 23-year-old boyfriend with no job staying here a few nights a week, without our consent. And then there is Lisa, who thinks so can just show up and sleep in my spare room in the basement whenever she pleases. Without consulting Ron, I volunteered to house the seminary intern from Slovakia for the entire month of September. Surprisingly, upon hearing this, Lisa made a phone interview to get a bed at a rehab facility. We are waiting for them to call when a bed becomes available. Hopefully, it will be today. The other one is salty with us, but she will get over it.

RJ, they need to clean the beach up every morning, as they do in Florida, and Cedar Point, but they don't. I think they clean it up right before Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day. That is it. It is amazing the amount of plastic that washes ashore. There are fish in the lake. Lake Erie is known for it's perch and walleye, but I won't eat any of it.

BTW, how is emma? Have you talked to her recently?

I miss Elara and Opali too.

I watch these shows on the zombie apocalypse and I conclude that a good reliable suicide pill is preferable to storing tons of food and water
Don't worry about zombies. Once the world's big predators (bears, wolves, feral dogs) realize these shambling husks are edible, they'll take care of the problem for you.

Yeah, last I heard she had gotten to go to the Scottish faire.

Don't forget, you are what you eat, which means I'm 100% chocolate, and a lot of these animals don't like chocolate.

It's like being back in the 80s, when the term WYSIWYG was just Science Fiction.

I'm sure the administrators and the legislators are paid very well, though.
BTW, how is emma? Have you talked to her recently?
I talk to her almost every day. She's doing very well. She got her computer back a while ago, but wasn't able to log in. We plan on working on it together, but she has a lot of appointments and stuff to go to. A lot of times when I talk to her she's waiting for an appointment to start or waiting for her ride home, thanks to the three-hour time difference.
I miss Elara and Opali too.
Yeah, Elara's been gone for a long time. I wish Opali would come more often, too.

Are Zombies edible, though? Seems to me they'd probably be poisonous. Or eating them might cause the Zombie virus to cross into other species. We could have a Zombie Apocalypse of the Animal Kingdom.

Good morning!

I think my mom is coming to stay with me today. We have Addie's dance recital to attend tomorrow. Speaking of Addie, last night she came over with her friend. They seem to think the cubby behind my closet is a hidden room. They got this epiphany of making it their own space, so they grabbed my broom, vacuum, and duster to clear out the dust and cobwebs. Then they borrowed Ron's tape measure, and made a drawing of the plan. I have to take them to 5 Below this week to buy pillows, bamboo mats, and other items to decorate. The girls have been doing a lemonade stand, and have so far made $90 towards their summer funds. My neighbor is letting them set one up in her yard during our City Wide Garage Sale Next weekend.

Happy Friday, all :hello:

It's almost father's day. My father's day gift is visiting my daughter, whom I haven't seen in 7 months. So The Wife and I are headed up to New York City today for brief weekend visit. Tonight we're all going out to dinner with her band in Brooklyn. :drum: :guitar:

Actually, have you thought about getting a roommate? Maybe it could help you retire sooner.

Ah, a secret HQ. That would be me. When we first moved to Bayley Terrace, I noticed that the rooms didn't seem to line up quite right, so I measured everything out with a yardstick and discovered a space of about three or four feet between the rooms that was unaccounted for. My Uncle decided that it was probably for a dumbwaiter or something when the building was a factory. I wanted to open it up and see what was inside and turn it into a library room for my books or something. The adults in the house were notably unenthusiastic about this idea.

Good morning!

Today I have to attend Addie's annual dance recital. :Ahhh: It's at noon. I hope I can get out of there after a few hours. The one year, it went on and on for 6 hours.

I would have insisted on seeing that room, RJ. The girls are going to pay for the remodel of their secret hidden room by themselves. They told me so. Hence, the lemonade stand at my garage sale next weekend.

Today's we'll head to the Met and see some cool art. Central Park should be nice today.

RJ, my daughter's band is still touring regularly -- they do a west coast tour in July and another European tour in August. They have a new EP which my daughter played for me yesterday -- it sounds really good (or as good as post-punk can sound )

Maddy, I'm sorry you have noisy neighbors. I know what that's like

Good afternoon, everybody. :hello:

I talked to a guy at Merrill Lynch the other day about consolidating my retirement assets and optimizing it all for income, so he said he would send me some information and forms. Today I got a envelope with a return envelope in it. That's it. Just a return envelope. I'm torn between either emailing him or sending back the envelope with a note that says "There's nothing here."

Oh, man, I had to go to a few of those for both my Sister and my Niece. Painful. :dead:

I tried. I still wonder what was in there. Human bones, maybe. Or the remains of a space alien who crashed in the swamp back in the 50s. The dusty of old costume of a deceased superhero from the 1940s. Or maybe just stacks of old Pulp magazines in mint condition.

We had a good day in NYC. We walked around the lower east side and the bowery, then hopped on a subway to central park where we walked around for an hour. Then we spent a few hours at the Met and saw many classic paintings by van Gogh and many other greats.
