It's doing well, though.

I logged into Kindle Direct and apparently you have to be Kindle exclusive to do the free offer. My ebooks are also available through B&N.

I put my last 4 on Kindle Direct to see if that helped sales any. I didn't.

Maybe there's some kind of promotion if it's a new book, like it shows up in those "books to read next" emails or something.

Baen's status page for Murder the World seems to have vanished. Might be a glitch in their system, but if it's not back by tomorrow I'll email them to see what's happening.
In other news I put Diaspora on a giveaway on Amazon just for the heck of it (since it's not selling anyway).

Yeah, the page is back but with no changes. Probably just a glitch in their system.

So I just found out about Twine, a Choose Your Own Adventure creator. Guess what I'm downloading and looking into? :D

How does becoming a cadet in the Hyperlight universe sound? :D

That looks great. It looks like you can go beyond the Choose-Your-Own-Adventure format, too. There's all kinds of options for variables and random elements and other stuff.

Sadly, I suspect I'm too old. :(

There are - I'm delving right in and already coded up a page to get name, ethnicity, gender, preferred pronouns etc from the player, and a scoring system ("Advice", counting how many times you go to seniors for help). There'll be more stats as well, once I figure out the story. This is going to take place in the first weeks of term, mostly after the second-year crews leave on their extended missions. :) It's set primarily aboard the Resolve, and we pick up an unresolved plot point from the Sikar Prime story (book 10). :)

^Sounds good.
I grew up with the old Choose Your Own Adventure books. I even had Star Trek and Pern based ones.

I used to read them with my littlest Brother all the time back in the day. I've got a Star Trek one, but I didn't know there was a Pern one. And I've got a newer one on my Kindle by the guy who does the Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal comic strip.

That figures. :D

It also occurred to me that this would be great for making a personal Wiki.

In other news, I got an email announcing a new micro-fiction contest from Arkham Bazaar. I wonder if I can make it three in a row.

I got a message on Facebook from an English teacher in Croatia who wants to use my "Greatest Power" essay from the Heroes Blog (the one about incorruptibility). I found her name easily enough on the Internet and she seems legit, so I'm inclined to say okay. scotty, do you have any thoughts about this?

Of course! That's wonderful news. That essay of yours has attracted more 'hits' than any of your other heroes blog posts. People really resonate to Stan Lee's idea of using power responsibly. Maybe that's because it's such a rare thing.

Please tell her 'yes' if that's your inclination.

Severance Pay got a 5 Star and a 4 Star rating on Amazon. No reviews but I'll take what I can get.
