I had the same thought. Having to produce rewards for backers would be problematic for me at best.

These are my paperbacks:

And these are my ebooks:

Thanks, blab!

Now I just need to figure out the optimal time to put them up on Twitter and tumbr and stuff.

I hit the 50K word mark. Now just another 50K words until I finish this book.

Got a surprise as a friend drew the male protagonist in the book I'm writing right now.

Finished my book, in the midst of prepping for ebook publishing. So much to learn, old dogs, new tricks, etc.

NaNo's over and I have at least another week to go before this book is finished. Ugh.

I never got a response from the agent I sent Children of Ares to, so this morning I popped it off to another.

Well, that was rude.

Speaking of which, I realized that I never heard from Galaxy's Edge about "Supernumerary." Ah, well.

Checking in, just to say, still prepping/proofreading/formatting Catching Light into one file. Man, I thought I'd caught all the errors before. Pro tip: blow the page view up to 150%, the errors just leap out. Or maybe it's cos I'm going blind, not sure...

Since early September. I'm trying to decide if I should bother inquiring, or just move on.

It's because everyone is blind to their own errors. You need a second set of eyes. :geek:

So, o Authors!

What is your experience with self-publishing?

Do you prefer Amazon/Kindle? Or maybe Kobo? Or another? Do you have a preference? Who would you run to? Who would you run from?

Trying to snare an agent but:
a) it's hard any time;
b) it's even harder here;
c) no one wants to represent a short story collection (though, as I pointed out, many famous authors started their life with same);
d) or SF.

SO, what crowd y'all run with?

What few sales I get tend to be from Amazon. I also published with Smashwords (which I think is linked with Kobo), but I get virtually no sales there. After a glitchy start Amazon's interface is pretty easy to use and their print-on-demand feature is easy to use as well and produces a well made hard copy- if not entirely economical.

My paperbacks are through Lulu at the moment, although my sales there have tapered off to pretty much nothing. My ebooks are with Amazon and I get a few pennies deposited in my account either from the US or the UK most months. I think when I do paperbacks in the future, though, I will go through Amazon. I really liked how Lupy's books turned out.

Just two more scenes and this book is done! Losing that week to a stupid illness really set me back on finishing this thing.
