Author's Thread #12
Re: Author's Thread #12
^I'll look into that. The contest looks to go to December, so there's plenty of time.

Thanks, australis. That's good timing. Posting that picture of emma reminded me that we were looking at some contests in those days and I was going to do some searching.

This also reminded me of the Daily Science Fiction site. I wonder if they might be interested in one of my Arkham Bazaar rejects.

Fifteen chapters in. An expedition is planned... but something is about to go wrong.

I hate it when things go wrong!
I think I'm going to submit "Supernumerary" to that Fresh.ink contest, and possibly "Forevermore" as well. And I'm going to try my other two Lovecraftian micro-fictions at Daily Science Fiction.

Re: Author's Thread #12
I got PSL done ten days before I needed to uploaded the full manuscript. Now to try to get everyone to pre-order it. Ugh.
Arisen from the ashes of many burned asunder accounts I come to fill your heart with blackest ink and glitter!
Re: Author's Thread #12
^Good luck to everyone!
Re: Author's Thread #12
Another chapter done. This one's gone in as #11 - I realised I needed to get [REDACTED] listening in on a conversation in order for [THING THAT GOES WRONG] to make sense.

I will pre-order it, but I don't think I know what PSL stands for.blablover5 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2019 3:12 pmI got PSL done ten days before I needed to uploaded the full manuscript. Now to try to get everyone to pre-order it. Ugh.
Maybe this is a sign that [THAT THING THAT GOES WRONG] shouldn't happen.
Re: Author's Thread #12
Sorry, but the stage is already set and the pieces are in play. Would be a shame to waste them.
Re: Author's Thread #12
Three chapters today, I'm up to #20. There's a major fracas brewing... Pashro Ferrix leading one team, Susan Delaney the other, with some unexpected assistance.

Today I submitted "Supernumerary" and "Forevermore" to the Fresh.ink contest that australis posted. Sign of the times: During the submission process, you click off your genres and themes... and trigger warnings.
I also submitted "Lurker In The Shallows" (the one about the octopus) to Daily Science Fiction.

^Good luck!
By all rights they should choose "Supernumerary".

Re: Author's Thread #12
Thank you very much. I imagine I'll have some stiff competition, but it's hard to know how widely known this contest is. And there's only one winner in each category. But it looks like there will be feedback from the beta readers, so that will be interesting, at least.
