The Picture Thread III: Say Cheese!

I'm not sure what the deal is. But Onfinite has been buggy before.

i was working on a comparison - of how the yard looks now next to the shot of my mom in the 1950's....

As you can see the rose bush is still there - but MUCH larger these days! and it is interesting to see the street before the end of it was built...

I still can't see Lupy's pictures either. I can go to the site, but when I click on "Browse" the page says "Temporarily Disabled," so they must be having technical difficulties.

The first P-38 entered service in 1941, but I'm not sure when that particular plane was built or how long they were in production. A lot of fire-power on those planes. I've heard tales of them literally cutting Zeros in half with their guns. The Japanese referred to them as "fork-tailed devils".

Heh. Nice.

Yeah, and I think they may be waiting for me to go away before they bloom again. I've been prowling around with my camera, hoping for a good shot of an open bloom, but after the first one that I missed, so far just buds large and small.

You have to sneak up on them.

firstly, a halloween cake from the past...

then, my aunt and father in their youth - and boy does my son look like hus grandpa - skinny, sulky, and....

Your dad looks like he stepped out of an old movie.

lastly, my mom and her mom with pets in tbe past... yu can see where our street was still being built and this house was the end of it - they built another one going up at the end, then stuck afew more houses in between to join them up!

Those are good ones.

It's fascinating to see how different familiar places were in the past. I usually like the old version better.

Between your snail friend, family and gooseberry ginger wine making, good stuff, Maddie! How long before you can sample the wine? Sounds like something I'd like.

Yep, I missed them. It's hard to tell the buds about to bloom from those that just did, and I'm getting better at it, but I didn't have the time to prowl when they were ready.

How long before you can sample the wine?

havent a clue! Um, it is the first time i have made 'real' wine - and basically i was just going by memory of what dad used to do...so, um....I guess i will try some of the wine next month perhaps...

i found THIS lil fellow under my feet yesterday - almot tripped over him when i went to fill the bird bath!

He does! I managed to catch a couple cactus flowers in bloom.

Hmmm, won't let me post my photos today. I'll try again later.
