This morning I accidentally posted in a locked thread. To be sure I did a test post in another locked thread. Is this because I'm a Mod or is there a bug in the system?

Yes, mods and admins can post in locked threads on most software. Cones in handy for locking a thread, posting, and giving people a chance to read before it gets unlocked again, or to keep announcement threads for responses by staff only.
