It's weird how we make a stronger mental note about making a mental note than about the actual subject of the mental note. This happens to me all the time. I'll remember that I have to do something important this afternoon, but I'll forget what that something is. I'll remember that I hid something somewhere in the house, but I won't remember where I hid it.

Can Siri take messages? You could just mumble something like, "Siri, remind me of the tentacled plush monkey dream" and then not have to worry about it.
