Avatar galleries?

Post by Unicron »

Out of curiosity, would anyone be interested in the possibility of adding some avatar galleries that might be useful? It could be a draw for potential new members, and a way of encouraging creativity. I have some templates from Magic: The Gathering I could use as one example, and that's where my current av is from.

Oddly enough, I was thinking about this recently. We had an Avatar Gallery Thread before the Apocalypse and never re-started it. I think it's a good idea.

J. Allen has been kind enough to add a gallery for Cosmic Encounter aliens over at Starscape, though he's not quite finished yet. I have av-sized images for most of the alien races, and I'd be glad to add those here even though ReNext isn't specifically a sci-fi board.

Let me know if anyone wants some MTG avs made. The official website has a lot of nice blowups of various card art which can serve as templates.

I've made the gallery live. Go to User Control Panel -> Profile (tab) -> Edit avatar -> Display gallery (it's a button at the bottom).

Uni, if you want to provide me with an archive of 10 or so images, 200 x 200, I could add them.

I could see about making some MTG ones, though it'll probably be tomorrow before I can work on that. There are a lot of alien races in Cosmic Encounter, though - close to 90 in the present edition. Do you think it would be better to make separate galleries in that case, if we wanted to include as many potential choices as possible? I'd have to make a new set at 200x200.

^I'd rather not include too many of any one type.

Well, what if I make some samples for you and you can tell me how many you'd prefer? I have the weekends off now for once, so perhaps it'll give me time to do this sort of thing.

Hmm. I have ideas for a couple, too. I'll work on them when I get a minute.

I started work on an MTG set. Might not have it done today, but it should be ready during the week. :)
