500 post limit?

I know we've had a tradition of keeping threads below 500 posts. But I can't help but notice that just before our last crisis that the "Who's Here" thread had gone up to 600 posts- and I was on the verge of ending a 500+ post in the Writer's Forum. I'm wondering now if we should be more stringent in our 500 policy.

And it took me nearly a week to notice this thread. That's a really good point. The error message we were getting was something about an index table being crashed, so it's very possible that thread size has something to do with it. I'm terrible at noticing post counts, but I'll try to be more attentive.
