They performed that at the Company Theater, too. The guy who played Lumiere (I think that's the character's name) was great.

Our Lumiere is a good friend of mine. He has the butt-shaking down to an art form.

Actually, this guy was quoted in the little booklet as saying that Lumiere was his dream role. He's been in a few other things and he's always good, but he really "shined" as Lumiere.

Forgot to add Into The Woods.

They had that at the Company Theater a few years ago. It was pretty good.

Truthfully, it's not as fun without Bernadette Peters as the witch. Which is not to say the current version is bad, just that it's not the same without some of the original cast.

Most things are not as much fun without Bernadette Peters.
Methinks Ted Sturgeon was too kind.

Blab and I went to see Wicked while it was in town (her birthday present this year), and I really loved it. I read the book and could never really feel for Elphaba (the Wicked Witch of the West), but the musical took it in a different direction. If you get the chance to see it, I would highly recommend it, as it was written for a wide audience, and I don't even think you need to really like The Wizard of Oz to like it.
(I've also had the songs drifting in and out of my head for a week now and despite the fact we had the released album before going to see it, am still not sick of it.)

I saw Wicked a couple of years ago. Definitely very good. My niece was with me and it made her cry, because she felt the Wicked Witch was being treated unfairly.

Re: What are your favorite musicals?
it has been a while since i have seen any - either at the theater or in movie format - but i really used to love South Pacific played at a live theater... I guess other ones used to dig would include movie-musicals like dirty dancing and flash-dance, and live theater musicals like sound of music and king and I. i also liked don giovanni - but thats kinda opera more than musical, i spose...

The Wife and I are going to see a live performance of WIcked this coming Friday night. We've heard nothing but rave reviews.

^^ I saw that a couple of years ago, and liked it a lot.
I just saw Rent for the first time this past weekend and thought it was great. The songs aren't as memorable as some other musicals I've seen, but the characters and storylines were very strong and touching.

I've had a song from Sweet Charity floating around in my head for about a week.
