I hope things are going well.
I was doing a little Mandelbrot research and I found this:
Google Mandelbulb and switch over to images and prepare to be mind blown.

That might require a printer capable of quantum resolution or finer.RJDiogenes wrote:I hope things are going well.

Scenes from a MakerFaire:
3D printed rocket parts. Actual flyable rocket parts.
MakerFaire Lunch, not 3D printed.
This talented fellow built and programmed a Delta style 3D printer using hand tools and his own talent and it prints very well.
A remarkable arrangement of strings and discs that when manipulated put on a dazzling display.
A maker who specializes in restoring old vintage audio equipment -- especially microphones.

More from the MakerFaire:
The maker who restores old microphones.
ONE of my 3D printers. This is our smallest most portable one. The one that gave me fits while I was in the middle of a severe depressive episode... this one can fit inside it.
Hand-operated printing press.
Real-life Rocket Man. Those were his 3D printed parts in the other post. These... are not toy rockets. His current record is in excess of 17,000 feet and he's hoping to hit 30,000 next year. With home-made rockets.

I didn't mean for you to print one, just that it was cool.Lord_Plecostomus wrote:That might require a printer capable of quantum resolution or finer.
That's amazing. And slightly scary, depending on who has access to it.Lord_Plecostomus wrote:3D printed rocket parts. Actual flyable rocket parts.

Hmm. If a printer could print other printers....Lord_Plecostomus wrote:ONE of my 3D printers. This is our smallest most portable one. The one that gave me fits while I was in the middle of a severe depressive episode... this one can fit inside it.

Re: 3D Printing...
I am attempting to create lithopanes with my printer. Let us understand this process better by looking at the roots of the word.
Litho as you know is from the greek root Lithos which means "stone" or "rock." Panes is derived from the word "pain" and now you realize these are a stone-cold pain in the ass.
Any questions?

Re: 3D Printing...
Probably not as bad as a lithotripsy, though.

Re: 3D Printing...
^not nearly. Had that done last fall. Still felt like I was trying to piss a bowling ball.
Anyway, photos in the AM. I made some starship lithopanes to share.
The rest are character art an artist local to here.

Re: 3D Printing...
I forget how many lithotripsies I've had. Four, I think, but I'm not sure. They are certainly far superior to that Roto Rooter thing they did to me with my first kidney stone.

Re: 3D Printing...
One is enough, A minor diet alteration and more water seems to have prevented a relapse.
Haven't had time to get the camera setup to photograph the lithopanes we made. Perhaps tomorrow after work.

Re: 3D Printing...
More water worked for me almost twenty years, but it finally caught up with me. The only dietary change I could make would be to give up tea, and that ain't gonna happen.
