Ahh, I just saw the Rob Lowe episode. Very good. Just two more episodes to go and I'll be done with Season 1.

Will Bortus every sing?

I'm enjoying doing an archeological dig through this thread to find your reactions to the episodes as they came out. I agree with many of your observations.

For one thing, they've really done a terrific job assemblying an archetypal ensemble cast, and in a John-Hughes-like way. Mallory is the class clown, Isaac is the nerd, Grayson is the beauty queen, Bortus is the gentle giant, and Kitan is the athlete. I'm not quite sure who LaMarr and Mercer are....

That's an interesting way of looking at it. I guess Mercer would be the dropout who came back, and LaMarre is... well, you'll see.

Yeah, I did see. Just finished the last episode where LaMarr is revealed to be an engineering genius. I didn't see that coming, especially after he acted like such an ass in the social media episode.

I'm glad the Mercer-Grayson romance fizzled, because the show needs an ambiguous "edginess" to exist between them.

It was totally inconsistent with his previous characterization, but I didn't care. The stereotyping was painful.

Well, to bend over backwards, being a genius doesn't preclude being an idiotic ass, especially if you give yourself license to be one.

It's a stereotype all it's own in academic medicine.

Well, that's true, but he was about ten seconds away from having his brain fried on the social media planet-- if there's a time to stop being an idiot, that's it.

Well, that's true, but if you acted the same way for years, you might find it hard to change.

I'd spend the hour looking for Allen Funt.

That and the overhead-- viral porn requires a lot of virtual penicillin. :nurse:

Ran across this video on Youtube:

It is odd the weird disconnect between critics and fans and I think this guy gets it right.
