The Enterprise episodes were good, but wasn't it disappointing to learn in DS9 that Kirk's actions did not have the expected outcome?

It's in our nature to avoid thinking and to rely on unreliable cues such as slogans and charisma. But I really believe that critical thinking can be taught and encouraged. Our parents and our schools just haven't been doing their jobs.

Am I being naive?

I suspect it's all having no effect. But it has to be done.

Do you remember the Nixon debacle of 1972-74 or were you too young at the time to pay attention to such things?
