Shouldn't a good villain be equal to or superior to the hero?

But if the villain is superior to the hero, how will the hero vanquish him/her?

Doesn't the hero have to beat the odds?

Do you think villains get frustrated with oddsmakers by repeatedly losing to the hero despite the odds always being in favor of the villain?

Have you just come up with an excellent plot for a story, where a villain gets rich by always betting against himself?

Could you have just explained why the villain always loses despite having the odds in their favor? Were all those James Bond villain actually glad they kept losing?

Could villainy have a fatal flaw by nature?

Well, Shakespeare said is was pride and ego that was every man's tragic flaw. Do you think he was right?

Is it possible, rather, that insecurity is a more universal flaw?

Could prideful acts stem directly from insecurity?

Have there been any scientific studies to prove that, or is it just folk wisdom?

That's a really good question. It could just be clinical observation, but you would think that it would be and could be verified empirically. Let me ask my clinical psychologist friend next time I see her.

Did you figure out a way to get ice delivered to Elara?

Would you believe that ice is one of the few things that Amazon does not sell?

And that I don't have Elara's address?
