Infirmary Thread #16: LOL Is The Best Rx

Even wilder and wackier than pre-crash Miscellaneous, the survivors talk about the weather, puppies, work, and coffee.

Still feeling queasy, and I was up most of the night with a migraine. I'm going in to work later this morning. I had to go in, yesterday, as the other office personal was off. The doctor is on vacation, so I did not have to do much, but just sit there and answer the phone. I took an hour nap in one of the exam rooms at lunch. One of our RN's has the same thing going on, minus the migraine.

Weird that you both have it. A touch of flu, maybe? Or something you both ate in the office?

It's a virus of some sort. It started on Sunday, and the RN only works Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, so it is not anything we ate. I only worked 3 hours, yesterday. I slept for 3 hours, when I got home. I'm feeling much better, today, but not 100%, yet.

I’m feeling a bit better. At least the sight and sound of food images no longer makes my stomach do flip flops.

I'm all better, but now our new tenant has what I had. I feel bad about it.

Max's dementia seems to be accelerating. He has forgotten the commands "stay", "no", and "come". He also ignores us when we call him. Bedtime is a challenge, too. He will not stay in bed, or upstairs, if everyone is not up there. He needs help with both going up steps, and getting into, and staying in bed.

However, he will not let us forget to give Brutus his eye medication every night. I suspect it has to do with both dogs getting a treat afterwards.

Oh, poor Max. It's so cute, though, that he doesn't forget Brutus's medicine.

Oh no, that's sad. Could it be deafness, not dementia?

It's dementia. There is nothing wrong with his hearing.

Brutus's tree allergies have returned. He is on Zyrtec 2x per day, for now. When that doesn't work anymore, I will switch to the prescription medication.

He chews his paws, and scratches his face to the point of cutting himself. The prescription medicine is so expensive, so I try to give him the Zyrtec for as long as it will work on him.

Sounds like a pollen allergy. Couldn't you wash his paws and face when he gets in from the garden? Removing the allergenes might at least dampen the symptoms a little.

We tried to rinse/bath him every day, but it did not seem to help. Plus, he is an 80lb lug. It is hard to get him into a tub. I try to :vacuum:, and :clean: everyday, and I wash his bedding every other day, but he still ends up inflamed. We narrowed it down to tree pollen. He is also allergic to :chicken: .
