This is very cool -- thanks, Gary.

When's the premier episode supposed to air?

The uniforms look very DS9-ish.

Late 2019. Can we still say "air?"

Which is far better than what they gave us in Discovery-- but also inconsistent with the future depicted in "All Good Things...."

That would make sense. It seems likely that Picard would be a teacher at this point, if he's still with Starfleet. Some have speculated that he's gone into archaeology and that the plot of the show involves the hunt for some kind of artifact, but I'd prefer that he was still with Starfleet, as a teacher or an ambassador or something.

AGT was a potential future... :headbash: :wallbash:

That sounds like Indiana Jones. The writing is key. Picard was the most intellectual of all the ST captains and so we need very smart writing. :writing:

I suppose that's true, but I liked the look of that future. Also, I don't see how anything in that episode would have changed the development of Starfleet designs over the next eighteen years-- not to mention cause the Romulan sun to explode.

And if there's a "timeline"-- when exactly is "the present?"

An Indiana Jones adventure would be appropriate for Picard-- he had a couple during the run of TNG. As for the writing, the bad news is that the same people who create Discovery are involved-- the good news is that Patrick Stewart has some input.

^ Let's hope he as a lot of input. I'd hate to see his reputation tarnished. We desperately need good new Star Trek.

I know, we really do. I really wish they hadn't brought JJ Trek into it, though. It may ruin it for me no matter what.

A teaser for Picard is out now. Abramsverse aspects aside it does look mildly promising.

Arghh. I tried to play the teaser but I got a message saying the video cannot be displayed in the country I'm in

Here it is:

I forgot we had a Picard thread and posted it in the breaking news thread.

It does look good, but I'm having a hard time with it being connected to JJ Trek. I guess the one saving grace so far is that it really seems to be the opposite of JJ Trek. Whereas in JJ Trek, the characters were all heartless automatons that shrugged off the destruction of Vulcan with a wink and a smile, here we have a real human being who was devastated by the destruction of an inhabited world.

And at least the show is moving in the right direction, moving forward instead of wallowing in prequels and re-tellings.
