Re: Author's Thread #12
I've given her copies of all my books and some select articles from my store. It's like she blocks it all out somehow. I downloaded my most recent story collection to her Nook and the first thing she said was, "You know, I've always wanted to read Anne of Green Gables."

^^
My mom was the same way. I guess moms are moms and that's just the way they are.

Eight chapters into book thirteen... The **** is truly hitting the fan now... Potentially high death toll, including some main characters...

I suppose we should expect as much in volume 13.

Re: Author's Thread #12
Are any of you familiar with the works of Ursula K. Le Guin? I'm just now encountering her and am intrigued.
I love this description of her:
Ursula Le Guin has been widely praised for bringing "literary depth and a tough-minded feminist sensibility to science fiction and fantasy." Le Guin believed that writing that drew readers into the "inner lands" of the imagination could be a moral force, observing that "if you cannot or will not imagine the results of your actions, there’s no way you can act morally or responsibly. Little kids can’t do it; babies are morally monsters — completely greedy. Their imagination has to be trained into foresight and empathy.”

^I'm familiar with her, but I can't remember right now if I've read anything of her's.

I read The Left Hand of Darkness a while back, but I'm not sure if I've read anything else of hers. I know I have a huge collection of her short stories packed away.

^^ That's cool. I need to sample some of her work.
Re: Author's Thread #12
One of my ships on Star Trek Online is named after her.
Chapter 12 is done, the recovery is starting... but who knows how long for? And we still haven't heard from Susan's team, what's happened to them? Surely they didn't all perish?

Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue.
Re: Author's Thread #12
Chapter 13 is done. I have a decision to make... kill a team of 4 or save them? Saving them is harder but would give me the trigger I want for the next bit. If I don't save them, that has to come from one of the other teams, and I don't know if I have enough people in the right places for that.

From the same person, too. And it looks like I didn't review either one. I thought I had reviewed everything.
