Hyperlight 10 - What Price Peace?

Post by Jim Gamma »

The academic year has ended, but that doesn't mean Susan Delaney, Rasson Tereena, Fraya Torreth and Nolla Drex can rest. Eighteen months ago, Tereena shaved her fur off and declared herself an exile from Sikara society in an attempt to prevent the Grand Packmaster, leader of her people, from pulling Sikar Prime out of the Interstellar Trade Alliance following the discovery of the Selenean Hyperlight Vessel Explorer One in a cavern on Phobos.

She succeeded, to a point. The Packmaster charged her with investigating the rules that had prevented the secret of Explorer's location, and the sordid history of the Children of the Galaxy and Explorers in Exile, coming to light and being challenged previously. She was permitted until graduation day to present her results, but given the workload she expects to receive next year, Tereena has compiled her report, intending to deliver it over the summer break. But first, she needs to reclaim her position in Sikara society.

She will be joined in the attempt by Fraya, Susan and Nolla, who will act as her team-mates and companions for three gruelling trials, tests of their commitment to themselves, to one another, and to their goal. The slightest error could prove fatal, as forces angered by the progressive Sikara for Change movement begin operations against the four Petitioners, attempting to assert Sikara dominance and solitude once and for all. It's just as well, then, that the crew of the Asimov have opted to escort their champions to SIkar Prime in support.

Survival is most definitely not guaranteed, and the team will need every wit they possess to succeed. In the balance hangs peace on Sikar Prime, and the stability of the Interstellar Trade Alliance. Will it be enough? What price are they willing to pay? What price are they able to pay?
