Here's an article about how our liberal democracy is at risk -- the liberal part more than the democracy part.

I love this picture of President Obama. He's either trying to rub away a headache he got from listening to some ass that he can hardly understand, or....he's sleeping.

He's on the right track, but he's talking about Leftism, not Liberalism. He even seems to come to understand that himself when he says, toward the end, "Many progressives on the left have shown themselves willing to abandon liberal values in pursuit of social justice objectives. There has been a sustained intellectual attack on liberal principles over the past three decades coming out of academic pursuits like gender studies, critical race theory, postcolonial studies, and queer theory, that deny the universalistic premises underlying modern liberalism." He's even got the time frame right, as I mentioned in a previous post. When the Left abandoned Liberalism for political correctness and identity politics thirty years ago, the abandoned the moral high ground and now all they do is drive Right-Wing recruitment.

Here is an article I found today that's a bit more encouraging.

And I think that it's more of a society-wide problem rather than left/right or liberal/conservative one. People across the spectrum seem to far more willing to believe all manner of non-sense, not only only because they agree with said non-sense but because they want to believe it.
The article RJ shared touches on this.
"These findings suggest that when people are on alert for something negative that is becoming less common, rather than celebrating their good fortune, they may start to find that negative thing in more places than they used to," he said.
We've become so ginned up on the notion that someone or something is preying upon us that we are too prone to simply believing the worst of people and the world in general.

Yet again, Trump caved and signed the stimulus bill for additional Covid relief: Trump reverses on coronavirus stimulus deal, signs package he called a 'disgrace'. The Dems are fast tracking a vote to amend payments to $2k/person, which is much more suitable. Yet again, there is too much in the bill that benefits the well-off and not the people who are suffering.

I heard something that I can't verify that supports what you're saying here, namely, that a recent relief bill had some sort of yacht-purchase tax break for the rich.

One thing is that it shows how Mitch-baby seems to be done with The Donald.

^They all do. :banned:

I could just imagine the wailing and gnashing of teeth from the Republicans if Clinton had done all this in 2016.
