Re: 2020 Politics: On the Hill of Megiddo
I've been peeking in at the totals periodically. No sign of any faithless electors yet, and most states have chimed in.
We did get one Republican quit the party today. Of course, he's not up for re-election.

Just got a CNN headline: "Electors seal America's choice".

^I saw that.
Up next: shenanigans with Congress.

And word on the street is that Bill Barr has hit the eject button.
Re: 2020 Politics: On the Hill of Megiddo
^The problem is that sounds basically like just another form of vote nullification. Not much different than what the GOP was trying. The Electoral College just needs to be abolished, clean and simple. I don't think workarounds will work.
Meanwhile.
Both McConnell and Putin have finally acknowledged that Biden won.

^^ I love your Facebook post about Putin (or was it McConnell?) finally acknowledging Neil Armstrong's walk on the moon.

I've seen that movement to work around the Electoral College. I'm a bit dubious about how it would work in real life, and I'm not sure if it would stand up Consitutionally. In any case, it's only half of what we need to break down the two-party system-- we need ranked voting as well.

So, yeah, the Electoral College is written into the Constitution. So there's that.
But my question is: what's going to happen when Congress begins it's new session? What do you guys think? Will Trump's sycophants have enough votes to set aside the Electoral College's vote? Do we still have to worry?

Re: 2020 Politics: On the Hill of Megiddo
I keep seeing these little news items about The Donald inserting loyalists at the Pentagon. I wonder if he's going to try the ultimate third-world dictator trick-- call out the military.
Re: 2020 Politics: On the Hill of Megiddo
^I'm currently doubting that as he's really soured his relationship with most of the military leadership. As for Congress there aren't enough votes there for anything serious.

Oh, he'll have as much luck with the military as he did with the Supreme Court, but I wouldn't be surprised if he tried. And I don't think he'll ask Congress.
