I finished All Mothers yesterday. Another cool mystery in a classic SF future. Jessen has become a truly iconic detective-- even when he's on vacation he's faced with a mystery.

^^ And I immediately defaulted to calling himmer "he."

Meantime, I saw a reference to The Illuminatus! Trilogy somewhere, which I remember hearing about when I was a kid, though I never read it. So I picked up the Kindle edition and dove in. It's just as as 70s as I expected.

Kindle is offering "Proof" copies of books now so I ordered one for Children of Ares to see how it looks in paperback before going live.

Wow, they're actually letting you look at it before letting other people buy it? That's cool. It shouldn't be a problem, though, because previous books were really nice.

I was having some formatting issues this time and I want to be sure it looks good before pulling the trigger.

Got the Proof for Children of Ares today and everything looks OK. So I hit Publish a short time ago.

And now they're saying there's problems with the cover design (title too close to the edge). Looking at the proof I can see their point, though it would have been nice if this had been pointed out earlier.

Maybe a human finally looked at it or something. I wonder if that means they'll update the digital edition.
