Re: Author's Thread #13
I finished All Mothers yesterday. Another cool mystery in a classic SF future. Jessen has become a truly iconic detective-- even when he's on vacation he's faced with a mystery.
Re: Author's Thread #13
^More like a working vacation as s'he was there for a trial.

^^ And I immediately defaulted to calling himmer "he."
Meantime, I saw a reference to The Illuminatus! Trilogy somewhere, which I remember hearing about when I was a kid, though I never read it. So I picked up the Kindle edition and dove in. It's just as as 70s as I expected.

Kindle is offering "Proof" copies of books now so I ordered one for Children of Ares to see how it looks in paperback before going live.

Re: Author's Thread #13
Wow, they're actually letting you look at it before letting other people buy it? That's cool. It shouldn't be a problem, though, because previous books were really nice.
Re: Author's Thread #13
I was having some formatting issues this time and I want to be sure it looks good before pulling the trigger.
Re: Author's Thread #13
Got the Proof for Children of Ares today and everything looks OK. So I hit Publish a short time ago.
Re: Author's Thread #13
And now they're saying there's problems with the cover design (title too close to the edge). Looking at the proof I can see their point, though it would have been nice if this had been pointed out earlier.

Re: Author's Thread #13
Maybe a human finally looked at it or something. I wonder if that means they'll update the digital edition.

Children of Ares has arrived! It looks perfect. Smells good, too.
Re: Author's Thread #13
^Thanks!
I should make sci-fi scratch'n sniff books.

Something similar has been attempted before.
Uh oh. Now it will probably start a cult or political party to inflate its sense of self worth.
Re: Author's Thread #13
I hit "publish" on Mountains of the Gray Mist on Kindle so that should be up soon.
Re: Author's Thread #13
And it's already up.
