I've always loved Fool on the Hill. Maybe because I could relate to that fool.

The video isn't nearly as good as the one for Here, There, and Everywhere

Interesting, because it's supposed to be ironic and complimentary. He was writing about the Wise Man archetype that people climb mountains to consult. :D

I recall people thinking it was about Nixon, but that wasn't it. Not only is the timing wrong, but I think they've confused the White House with the Capitol.

Here's one that I'm sure everyone knows:

I can't help but think the Beatles were mocking the Beach Boys when they wrote Back in the USSR. Or was it a friendly homage?

Did not know they did a version of that. I know The Beach Boys did a version, but that was only after I heard Billy Joel's rendition of it.

It was a satire of both Chuck Berry and the Beach Boys. It wasn't meanspirited, because I think the Beatles were friends with the Beach Boys. Given the time period, though, I'm not sure if they were serious about the USSR being preferable to the USA or not.

I thought "Dear Prudence" might be a little obscure. This one might be too.

Obscure but still good. These are White Album tracks from 1968.

Blackbird is so lovely. Paul said he wrote it as a tribute to Black women during the Civil Rights movement.
