So much for my prediction that Putin wouldn't last out the year.

Curse you, Vladimir!
At least you weren't alone in the predictions department.

A lot of people point blank said Ukraine should just roll over and give into Russia and not provoke Putin. I'm damned glad the Ukranians held firm and finally showed the world Russia has been blustering for years. The Emperor truly has no clothes.

There are still people who insist that Ukraine should make concessions to Russia with some insisting that Biden should encourage them to do it.

I'd be okay with it if Ukraine agreed not to annex Russia.

Kevin McCarthy's bid to become Speaker Of The House is hitting a a rough patch.
Seriously though, as amusing as it is to watch the Republicans shot themselves in the feet repeatedly, they are just wasting their and everyone else's time here. McCarthy has the majority of votes (with the exception of Jeffries who's a Democrat and obviously not an option) and will likely become Speaker once every stops their pointless opposition.

Apparently, the last time this happened was almost 100 years ago. If he does become Speaker then the conditions which lead to it will leave him severely weakened. Prepare for two years of "ain't much happening" with the House.

^The problem is that he will likely win eventually- but after promising all manner of insane actions. The schadenfreude is certainly appealing here, but I do think Democrats are letting some opportunities pass by them. They should at least try to peal away a handful of more moderate Republicans and back one of them for speaker. The Republican majority is so small in the House that it just might be doable.

And the 10th try isn't looking good either.
