Infirmary Thread #21: Say "Aaargh!!"

Even wilder and wackier than pre-crash Miscellaneous, the survivors talk about the weather, puppies, work, and coffee.

^^ She has a habit of long absences, so that's normal. She'll be back.

Yesterday, I forgot that I was 64 years old and did some running on the track at the gym. Big Mistake. My right hamstring is now badly pulled, or strained. Putting ice on it afterward really helped. Today it's less sore. I hope I can bike-ride and dance today.
Ouch. You should probably skip the bike riding and focus on the dancing.

Elara accumulates 50 injuries before she reports in here. Let's hope they are interesting.

No, that's unhappy news. Injuries aren't funny unless there are horses involved.

My pulled right hamstring is 80% better. Just a wee bit of tenderness now.

Lol, my achilles tendeon is making up for it: hurts quite mean today. I was dressing for a lecture in a hurry on Friday and picked a pair of shoes not yet fitted with the wedges at the heels that my orthopedist recommended. I walked only 2 miles but that was sufficient to strain the freshly healed tendeon. On the plus side the scar is intact; no new tear.
On Tuesday I'll fit all my shoes with silicone wedges. Already ordered them.

Must walk. And climb, wade, crawl etc.
I was out sampling on Monday. Walking works quite well, but wading and climbing embankments is a bit painful. It requires a torsion which the tendeon hasn't had to perform since Christmas. I shall try to get physiotherapy, but due to a flue wave that claimed his colleagues, my orthopedist currently must stem the workload of 3 docs all alone so that I could only get an appointment in a month. Until then I'll try to gradually increase the strain. The tendeon protests but always recovers over night.

I finally got around to be tested for a bee allergy; the result will be ready on Friday. Every time I get stung the reaction is worse which is suspicious. In my profession I can't always avoid meeting bees and particularly now after their winter pause they tend to be highly aggressive. I can relate - when having to get up and go to work I am grumpy, too. :D

And today we'll do a few tests on a digestional problem. I suspect I caught a few bacteria in the lab. I had a few really nasty samples lately. My bet is on Clostridium, my doc thinks it's Enterococcus. The one who loses must invite the winner to a cafe (which means I get cake, no matter who wins :D)
