Good evening, everybody.
I'm not normally one to give credence to signs and portents, but
The Last Dangerous Visions is available for pre-order at Amazon. Surely the End Times are upon us.

Today I'll golf again, but most importantly I really have to pack for our trip to Ireland. We leave tomorrow afternoon. Starting Friday, I'm going to be in the same time zone as
Maddie, so my check-in times are really going to change.
At least you'll be able to get over your jet lag quickly. There will be plenty of sheep to count.
It's interesting that Virginia doesn't celebrate Patriot's Day, given how much Virginians pride themselves on their central role in America's founding, development, revolution, etc.
You should. You should have a marathon, too.
I remember beginning as an assistant professor in 1987 and libraries had card catalogs, people sat at wooden tables and chairs, nothing was digitized, and librarians were old mousy women with glasses who shushed people.
I fondly recall visiting the Fogg Library in Weymouth many times when I was a kid. I've posted pictures of it before-- it's kind of a cross between a castle and a mansion. There were the rows of bookshelves, a research room, the island in the middle where the Librarian sat, and another reading area with a couch facing an old fireplace (never lit, sadly). And, of course, there was the smell of the ink from the copy machine. It was a wonderful place.
The difference is, you wouldn't be boring. You'd wax eloquent about a 1942 groundbreaking comic book hero
That's funny, because it was comic book nostalgia magazines like
Back Issue and
Alter Ego that I was getting lost in.

It's Bat Appreciation Day!
Allergies kept be awake a good deal of the night.
Was that a typo or is that how you sound?
We don't celebrate in California either, but we came a bit late to the US of A.
Just in time for the Civil War.
