Share Topics Automatically with Social Media Buttons!

Hi all,

I just made a small modification to the board - you now have the ability to automatically share topics over a few social media sites.

The buttons will show up as small icons in the toolbar area of your screen (the purple bar right below the header). They will show up when you have navigated to a particular thread, like the Check-In thread. It will link to the whole topic, not to a particular post in that topic.

What do the icons stand for? I only recognize Facebook, and there are no tool tips.

I recognize Twitter. Not that I use it, but I've seen it before.

As I hovered over them in firefox, the addresses displayed at the bottom of the window. The first one is delicious...no clue what it is. Second is MySpace. Then Twitter, and Facebook. I have a twitter...hardly use it though.

There is delicious (it's a bookmarking service where you can then share bookmarks, I've got one myself: http://www.delicious.com/nussey

Then Twitter, MySpace, and Facebook.

Of course, each of us will have a different utility for these buttons. I use delicious, Twitter, and Facebooks but not MySpace, for instance.

Great idea, Elmo. I wish my blog platform had these sharing option capabilities. Sometimes we have some really interesting discussions in here that are VERY worthy of sharing!

Oops, I didn't notice the addresses at the bottom. This is cool. Sharing stuff on Facebook may bring in some new members.

Renie, this mod got deinstalled but causes problems in the database and ACP:
It got installed 6 times and deinstalled 5 times, according to teh entries in the log-table.
I m not so good with SQL - would the prob be fixed if I deleted the latest install entry from the database or faked another deinstall entry?

Renie seldom stops by these days, so I don't think she will see this. I don't think anybody would miss the media buttons if you deleted them. I've never known anyone to use them.
