^I can't help myself. You get everything from flat-earth kooks to people who don't understand basic science.

Entertaining, yet dangerous.

This is what a cloudy day on Mars looks like.

Re: The Mars Thread
That is just remarkable and beautiful. That shot of the gray clouds floating over the red rock of the Martian mountains is just breathtaking.

I half-expect to see Jawas running around.

Re: The Mars Thread
I wonder if that means that Disney would own Mars?

Oh, great. Mars is going to end up forgotten in a vault somewhere.

Re: The Mars Thread
That's very interesting indeed. Previously, Earth-based instruments and satellites have detected seasonal (namely Springtime) blooms of methane on Mars. Underground single-celled critters are exactly what I'd expect to find on Mars, so this is very compelling evidence. And if their methane is leaking up through the ground, they can't be too very far down there. That makes it seem more possible that even a rover could find more concrete evidence if they can make it to the source.

Re: The Mars Thread
I suspect Martian cows to be the source of the methane. The cows could be on the planet's surface, hidden somewhere, or they could be subterranean cows. Sort of like the Horta in Star Trek.
But think about whether Martian milk would be either green, or red. Would you drink it?

Subterranean Martian Cows.... that sounds like a story.

Bovia, Milkmaid of Mars by Rick Hutchins. I like it!
