It looks like a platter to me. I like platters too, even if I don't have any.
Re: The Picture Thread III: Say Cheese!
Platters are good if one has company, and is serving pastries, or finger foods, or roasts. That looks like a pretty platter, from what I can see of it.

Yup looks like a platter to me. I've got two. One of them came from my grandmother's house.

Re: The Picture Thread III: Say Cheese!
i guess that is what you would call the back one - it is a gigantic plate used to serve a roast meat and veg on in the historical past... it is probably 1930's or before....and totally useless to me, so will either be sold via ebay or at a garage sale... unless either of you platter fans wants to have it for free in exchange for postage costs... (i dont want clutter!!!!)
Re: The Picture Thread III: Say Cheese!
I'm now wondering what postage cost would be....since you said 1930's or before.

Re: The Picture Thread III: Say Cheese!
well, i have a whole bunch of plates, platters, etc - most of which come from my dad's parents m- which would date the stuff as pre 1950's. dad mentioned he used to have roast beef on a serving platter on sundays as a kid....so i am going with that as dating it to the 20's/30's or before... not sure how much it would be, but i cant find out tomorrow as the post office is on strike!

Ah, a new picture thread. I just noticed.
Those are beautiful flowers, as always, emma. That orange rose is almost an Autumn color, I just realized.
Wow, a platter from the 20s or 30s? That's fantastic, especially since it's in such good shape. Go for it, Cayla.

Re: The Picture Thread III: Say Cheese!
there is plenty more junk like that platter lying around HERE - mugs, saucers, oil lamps, 78's, pre 1950's books.... I don't want it - any of it - so will sell what i can and donate what i cannot sell...I am the sort of human that doesn't like bric-a-brac - just useable things!

If it's in good shape, you'll probably end up making some good money.

Hmmm...I have a china pattern made in England during the '60's....I wonder if Madeliaette has any of the pieces. It's made by Stratforshire, and the pattern is called Stagecoach. It's a brown pattern.
