You can have my Oxford comma when you pry it from my cold, dead, and lifeless hands.

Well, this was unexpected. A former student of mine paid Mindy Sterling, who played Frau Farbissina in the Austin Powers movies, to send me a personal message.

^^ Based on a Stephen King story, I think, but I haven't seen it.

So, Gary reminded me of this thread. But unfortunately I can only see a few of the videos. Then on some I get only sound. And then on others, I get no video or sound.

That's weird. They're all the same format and from the same site, as far as I know. Are you watching on your phone?

That's also a cool site. There's a ton of celebrities there that you can get to do messages for you. Some are quite expensive, though.

Someone--i don't know who, but presumably they are closer to Amanda Tapping than I will ever be-- randomly includes me mid-stream in the recipient list of email/Twitter/etc. chains where I don't belong, completely without context, once or twice a year.

It's quite disconcerting to be hacking my way through my backlogged Inbox and find a weeks-old email from Amanda Tapping saying something like "It's been too long, but I think of you whenever it rains that certain way" or "How do you deal with the loneliness of social distancing?" [Ms Tapping takes a very intimate tone with her female colleagues/coworkers -- a shared support network, I presume)

There's a lot of cool people on there. But don't bother to look for Linda Park or Nicole Beharie, because I already tried.

I wonder if it's a bandwidth thing or something-- maybe the larger videos can't make it down.

I find it deeply unnerving.

1) "Wait. What? Did we have a moment... <thinks> ... no that was Jewel <thinks more> and I'm pretty sure that was a dream""
2) Madly clicking... "SMTP" ... "Headers" ... "Extended Headers"... grep -F "Authentication" ... hmm, this actually looks legit
3) grep -F "Received" ... but dayyum... three weeks. how can I reply to this now? What would I say? "Sorry. I'm a screw-up"
4) Deep Breaths. Get back to reality. If she knows you, she KNOWS you're a screw-up. QED -- no, better than that: It's a given.
5) Try not to think about the flag. (Don't kid me -- you i know which flag)

That feeling some get from a Nigerian Prince
for me it's "Dammit to hell, you were right.
He was a soulless husk, going through the motions.
The Divorce was final Wednesday.

Friday night, an hour past sunset,
Kelley's Roast Beef in Revere,
Park facing the ocean.
Let's watch the planes land at Logan,
and ships at sea, and meteor showers.
Let's sing Lehrer, Demento, and Python.
Let's eat whole belly clams and drink vodka.
Let's see what happens."

Okay, my life isn't exactly "Letters to Penthouse"
