Somehow, I managed to get "asses" and "assets" out of "seats."

2015.
Unfortunately, getting their asses out of their seats is something politicians will never do. Not to mention getting their heads out of their... well, never mind.emma glitch wrote:Somehow, I managed to get "asses" and "assets" out of "seats."

I'm yelling at pictures of Mitt Romney and the Pope on fb. I need to go walk it off.

This is why I've mostly avoided the news since the presidential election of 2008.
But I did get an interesting ping today: Apparently the Supreme Court is finally going to rule on same-sex marriage.

Re: 2015 politics: hang on to your seats!
I am clinging to my sanity at the moment due to this thread from another mb:
http://www.exisle.net/mb/index.php?/top ... try1503530
It could get me permabanned, but this is exactly the provocation I will not tolerate, since it was directed at me by a poster who knows that I am, indeed a suicidal disabled veteran, and that my father and brother, both veterans, both committed suicide. I have printed it out, will take it to my next mental health appointment at my VAMC, which, thank goodness, is in a couple days. This is a crisis for me, but I am handling it well, better than can be expected, so I'll be okay, but it will take me a while to come down from the anger.

I hope it doesn't get you permabanned. He isn't worth it. You should learn to just laugh at losers like that, like I do.

Well, I do call him Turd of the Sword. He certainly hit upon the one bait I couldn't resist. However, he got one shot and he misfired, because I did not go nearly as far as he might have expected, hence his follow up attempt to fan the flames. It was my intention to read no further, but I had seen SGF's hug while I added his follow up to the stuff I'd already printed, so I did more calming stuff, promised myself I would not respond, and read the rest. Thank you, I appreciate your post, and all the posts in support and otherwise. There are a bunch I'll karma later, since I didn't want to leave evidence that I had, indeed, gone back to read.
Fortunately, the mod who read my report is one of the good ones. I have promised him not to escalate, so I leave it in his hands.

Yeah, it's probably a good idea to stay out of there. Or just peek in when you're logged out.

Re: 2015 politics: hang on to your seats!
Since I got booted from the thread, which means I can't even go in to read it, I put Plan B into action so I could finish printing it out. I am touched by all the support I got, and delighted by the text of the boot, in which the mod states that the other guy's post is "vastly worse."
The other guy, incidentally, started an "apology" thread which is, of course, a fauxpology thread. He also seems to be expressing decades of rage from personal tragedies, which is sad, because the kind of therapy I get, resilience building, would probably help him, but telling him so would probably just set him off again.
My cryptic response, which was made while suffering the shock of having my mental health appointment that I was so looking forward to today rescheduled, set him off again anyway.
Meanwhile, the original thread has turned into a slugfest over taxes between the mod and a couple other posters.

I think it's best to just ignore that guy. I'm sorry if he's had a tough life, but he strikes me as a sociopath.

I'm sure you're right. Any sympathy I might have had for him is a nonstarter.RJDiogenes wrote:I think it's best to just ignore that guy. I'm sorry if he's had a tough life, but he strikes me as a sociopath.

Flashback to 1784: if Ben Franklin had gotten his way, would the bald eagle be the butt of jokes?

It would probably be extinct, because nobody would care so much.
