It's an awesome but reasonably realistic (getting better all the time, especially if you add the physics plug-in packs) space simulator. You can build your own spacecraft using a cartoon-like GUI, learn to do space navigation, construct/fly missions, simulate/alter historic spaceflights, etc. I played with it for a while, and was favorably impressed. And it's free!
I only used it enough to become familiar with it. I have too many other timesucks as it stands. Highly recommended!
