The 80's
The greatest decade in music!
What are some of your foavrite 80's tunes? ANyone go to retro nights and dance to 80's music? And if you go to a retro night, does it seem weird to you when you see little teenagers dancing to music that you danced to when you were a teenager?

First things first: I -love- Depeche Mode...
I like music from the 80s quite a lot, I think I have hundreds of songs from that time, Nik Kershaw, Duran Duran, Madonna, Huey Lewis and the News...
I used to go to a disco where around 2:00 in the morning they always started playing 80s tunes for about an hour, you should have seen the people going crazy!

(most of) Van Halen's best music was in the 80's
Journey was huge at the end of the 80's, Tears For Fears, Michael Jackson, I'm also a huge fan of Huey Lewis and The News.
Unfortunately, the 80's are best known as the One Hit Wonder era. At least the single hits were really good, as they're still playing frequently on the radio today.

Me too!! Everything counts in large amounts!! And that's Dave Gahan in my avatar too!! And I'm going to see them live in Manchester next month!! Wow - another Mode fan!!
As for the 80s, I think they don't really count as a decade, musically speaking. Post-1986, the whole music scene in the Uk got very poor very quickly, largely due to successes of Pete 'The Anti-Christ' Waterman and the subsequent lazy, copycat tactics of rival record companies. Today would be a good day to die, Pete!

Surely the majority of Rammstein's recorded output has been in this decade.
And I love Rammstein too. The greatest live band in the world today - bar none.

Hmm, not bad but i like Benzin a bit better.
Oh yeah back to the 80's uh Depeche mode made a song back then called "Stripped" and i kinda think its so incredibly wussy, i mean teeth shattering sweet, of course its probably because i heard Rammstein's cover first..

To me, it seems that a lot of the 80's music is stuff that almost everyone knows. I mean you hear the opening seconds of Sir Mixalot's classic "Baby Got Back" and you instantly know what song is playing. I like that-having a lot of people instantly recognize a song and almost know it by heart. Makes for fun times.

I don't think that's a fair criticism of DM at all. I don't think you understand them properly. They have been a big influence on Rammstein (and many other bands), hence that cover version. And I don't think they could be described as 'sugary', aside from the first few singles when Vince Clarke was still with them.
