Stargate for the big screen

#1 Post by Lowell » September 19th, 2013, 7:38 pm

Both good and bad news for Stargate fans. One they are plans the bring life back into the franchise with a 3 movie deal.

Bad news is they are planning a reboot like with what happen to Trel forgetting the 2 SG series SG1. SGA, SGU and even the 1st feature movie by not using those actors!

I have mixed feelings as I would have liked to seen a SYFY channel movie with all 3 series actors with the Universe crew being rescued?

However I look for the main characters to be recast which will be interesting?

I hope Peter Wingfield gets a lead =) He was Tanith in the SG1 series and IMO he did a very good job.

Great. Now that nuTrek is a success, they'll be rebooting everything into something dumb, loud and generic.

Oh yes expect a Big battle whether on a planet or in Space.

I wonder who will be cast for the 2 main roles plus if they have Carter or the other team members show up?

Again what should have been done! :o was to have a mixed film with the 3 teams and had the SGU people come home! That would be a story to write. maybe introduce a new team to lead into another series or film?

They already did that with the Star Wars "prequel" episodes. While Luke would never join the Dark Side, Lucas certainly did. With flying colours.
If I was religious I'd pray for him not being involved in the remake of SG.

Oh noooo they're not.

Leave Stargate alone. Its fine as it is. If it has to be revived couldn't we have a new series set in modern times, succeeding on from SG-1 rather than a crummy reboot?

Though, if they bring back Janet Fraiser........

They tried to do another DVD SG movie and sadly it didn't work out!
I would have loved to seen a mixed crew film!

Janet Died so Teryl couyldnt come back except do a flashback scene.

Reboot is popular so god knows who will take the roles?

They had several more direct-to-DVD movies planned, but MGM was in dire straits because of the economic meltdown. I'd rather see them continue with that than start over.

Oh I meant that a potential plus side to a reboot is a New Janet.

And death never seemed to stop Aphophis. That aside they could have easily brought back Janet Fraiser in the series if they'd wanted to. Just have a Janet from another reality become stuck in the current universe.

Or have some proper sci-fi magic fullgrown clone complete with memories.

I agree if your going to recast the team The secondary team at SGHQ should be Janet Frazier and Gen Hammond!

Darn right. ;)

I'd actually watch the NuStargate though it'll never compare with the old. Though now I really have to look up Janet's name and check the spelling. I've got "Fraiser" (my preferred spelling), Frasier, and Frazier now all from different people.

Yay for me.

I think I saw it once onscreen during "Line of Duty" AKA: The Jolinar ep. There was an office door that said "Fraiser" on it.

The Door sign might be a joke as the cast enjoyed doing things like that behind the scenes.

I would give the reboot a look. IF they casted good actors who where into SCIFI and could do a great adventure.

One casting I would suggest is Mike Dorn as Teal'c and that leaves Jackson, O"Neill and Carter if they decide to have her in the 1st movie.

I'd rather see a new series that expands on the continuity of the old. I prefer to build on things rather than replace them.

I believe they was thinking about a web series once? A 4th spinoff with guests from the other 3 would be cool?

Yet movies are more popular!
