Actually, the story is that a new TV series is being pitched this Summer.

An interesting article I found on Facebook.

As much as I like to see it Im not getting my hopes up? As of now we have 2 features plus many fan projects online which better than nothing.

I really hope they don't make it part of the movie series. They should bring back the real thing for the anniversary.
Re: CW may consider Trek return to TV
I may be a pessimist, but in my experience the Trek powers infallibly choose the worst of several options. Something they have in common with voters in most countries..

I don't know, I think we've been pretty lucky over the years, with a few exceptions, until they turned it over to JJ.
Re: CW may consider Trek return to TV
I agree. The last 3 movies in particular wouldn't just have made Gene Roddenberry turn in his grave but spin. And the next one (ST Beyond) is going to be #13...

Re: CW may consider Trek return to TV
I feel bad for the guy who's writing it (the guy who plays nuScotty). He seems pretty sincere, but there's no way anything good can come of nuTrek.
Re: CW may consider Trek return to TV
I no longer get my hopes up. It be nice to see Trek back on TV yet what direction it takes either stay in the JJ era like the films or do something new or bring back actors like Renegades.
From what I heard the studio seems to want to move on from the past so ideas such as Capt Worf or the voyager actors on Renegades seems to be doomed?

Re: CW may consider Trek return to TV
but Michael Dorn playing Worf's granddad in The Undiscovered Country set a precedent, so that now there's always the chance that some of the old actors might return as their characters' ancestors.
Or we do some crowd funding, hire all the old crew members that are still alife and write Star Trek XIV: Into The Wheelchair
(Spoiler: the TNG crew live in a UFP home for the elderly and feel utterly bored. One day Q discovers them there and decides to make their lives a bit more exciting. He transfers them into the Nexus where they meet part of the TOS crew. Unnerved by the constant bickering and knowing-it-all-better of the respective other crew, both groups decide that they need to escape. Both build new starships. However, they can only tear free of the Nexus if they cooperate. Or could there be another way? And how can they take revenge on Q?)

Re: CW may consider Trek return to TV
It would be nice to get at least a TV movie that unites most of the 24th century characters for one big send off. And an Enterprise reunion would be nice. But I doubt if either will happen. Since next year is the 50th anniversary, I wouldn't be surprised if they unveil plans for a new show-- the only is question is, will it be real Trek or nuTrek?

the news that they be 2 more JJ era movies means we wont see a series until after 2019? Many actors have said Paramount would never run 2 crews again or even 3 like the glory days from 1996 -1998 when you had TNG movies and DS9/Voyager TV!

Re: CW may consider Trek return to TV
Yeah, but it's CBS that has the TV rights, and they won't care about movies that come out every three years. Not if they think they can make some money.
Re: CW may consider Trek return to TV
one rumor was Renegades was pitched as a possible CW series?
Yet I believe it when something is aired.
