A fascination for the Uniform

#1 Post by Niorah » October 23rd, 2004, 9:50 am

Don't you just love a man/woman in a uniform...?

I do...

The uniforms I still like best, even if they look kind of outdated now, are the ones in TOS, I especially appreciate their Dress Uniforms, they may look all glittery and silly, but they still beat the latest Dress Uniforms by a landslide, call me old-fashioned, but I don't like the idea of a Starfleet Officer looking like a restaurant waiter...

And what about alien uniforms...?
I really like the Cardassian uniforms, so martial and rigid, and I appreciate the change they made to the Romulan uniforms, they look great now that they took away the "very eighties" shoulder over-padding... Yep... I think the new Romulan uniforms are my favourite...

Oh, I agree. I think the TOS ones were one of my favs, although I really like the alternate universe ones. Hey, give me bare arms and a view of a hairy chest any day. :D

I also liked the flowing dress that Deana wore on TNG. Cardie uniforms were fly, as well. Gul Dukat...*wolf whistle* Although I'm not sure I've seen the new Rommie ones. Can you post a pic?

I think I'd prefer a more rounded toe, but the boots are definitely rockin'! :D

One has to love the TOS "mini dress" uniforms for the female crew members. Delightfully un-pc (and impractical really, especially on away missions). ;)

I thought the best uniform overall, however, was the "movie" uniform (see my avatar). A little more military, easy wearing, and flattering, they made a lot of sense while being more visually interesting than the others.

Oh...and Lily? I'd love to see you in those boots, JUST the boots...

I found the pants the men wore on TOS to be rather unusual looking. They kind of poofed out at the bottom and were tucked into their boots. I liked the pants on TNG much better. The little slit on the bottom was a nice touch, IMHO.

Those short dresses on TOS would have been uncomfortable when sitting on one of those cold looking bridge chairs.

Now, boots. I love boots. A man in tight riding pants and knee high boots.

No, it's the tight blue jeans and pointy snake-skin cowboy boots with the spurs.

I have to agree with Toast about those movie-era uniforms. They were the best, in my opinion. Gave the crew a very professional and classy appearance while still being practical. They just looked military.

Would you include the TMP "pajama-looking" uniforms as well...?
Or are you talking about the burgundy and black ones that came later on...?

Oh, ok... your comment about looking military should have given it away... :D

I think the design of those was really nice, but they just chose the worst colours ever... to bad... :?
