Lyric Sites
So what are your favorite sites to search for lyrics? Or do you end up doing it the old way and trying to listen to a song and type down the words as fast as you can?
To die, in the rain.
There are probably thousands of lyrics sites out there, but content varies pretty widely (and often wildly) according to taste, genre, time period and what-have-you. My usual approach is to use Google and search for the title of the song -- or just a line, if that's all you have -- and the word "lyrics" (band or artist name also, if it's coming up with too many different hits due to frequently-used titles or phrases) thus:
"Song title or line from song" lyrics "name of band/artist" (optional)
That'll usually get me what I want
A couple of things:
Don't assume the lyrics you get are correct -- I've noticed that typos, just plain wrong words and general sloppiness are routinely copied from lyrics site to lyrics site. Always give it a good once-over.
Some sites just have crappy formatting -- stanzas not defined or defined incorrectly, lines not separated from each other and other such. You'll start learning which you'll want to avoid.
Some lyrics just can't be found online. Sometimes it's because the artist wants it that way. Sometimes the song is too old or obscure or esoteric. Then, it's back to the headphones and pencil and paper. Oh, well.
All of that said, here's one that I've found to be pretty good in avoiding a lot of the bullshit lyrics-site problems:

Their content is fairly extensive though, of course, it all depends on what you're looking for.

Methinks Ted Sturgeon was too kind.
