Well, Theophilus was a scribe. He wrote the words of Luke. He never really was of importance, but was around important people. By being around important people, and recording their words, he may have had a small impact on those people, though he was just a scribe.


I doubt I'll ever really amount to much in my life. But you know, I might just be around some important people someday, and I might have some impact on them. In so doing, I might have some sort of last impact.

The other theory is, of course, that Theophilus was Luke's patron and was paying for his summary of what happened. Either way, he was a pretty important guy.
