DVR7

Week Six
(October 28 - November 3)

Supernatural
Live 1.1
DVR7 ??

The Originals
Live 1.0
DVR7 1.6

The Vampire Diaries
Live 0.9
DVR7 1.7

Arrow
Live 0.8
DVR7 1.3

The Tomorrow People
Live 0.6
DVR7 1.0

Reign
Live 0.6
DVR7 0.9

Hart of Dixie
Live 0.4
DVR7 ??

Beauty and the Beast
Live 0.3
DVR7 0.6

The Carrie Diaries
Live 0.3
DVR7 0.5

So, this week a show had to rise more than 50% to make this list. But if it helps - that means Hart of Dixie could've got at least a 0.7 and Supernatural could've got a 1.6 - I think. Again you need to remember me and maths are NOT the best of friends.

BONUS

Once Upon A Time (ABC)
Live 2.3
DVR7 3.5

Grimm (NBC)
Live 1.5
DVR7 2.6

Revolution (NBC)
Live 1.4
DVR7 2.3

Dracula (NBC)
Live 1.3
DVR7 2.2

Considering Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Sleepy Hollow, nor The Big Bang Theory are on the list I'm a-gonna assume they was all in reruns during this week.

Clearly, if you was worried about me because you know where-abouts I live, I'm fine - everything is fine for me and my local area, though I'd say one came damn close within five/six miles, and that's just too damn close. However, again I'm personally fine.

Yeah, I think there was a week or two of re-runs.

If a show had to rise at least 50%, that means Supernatural got a minimum 1.65, so it was at least a close second to Vampire Diaries, if it didn't tie them or beat them.

Thursday, November 21, 2013

7:00 P.M.

The Big Bang Theory
- 18.94 million viewers
- 5.3/16 A18-49

The X Factor
- 5.54 million viewers
- 1.5/5 A18-49

The Vampire Diaries
- 2.67 million viewers
- 1.3/4 A18-49

Parks and Recreation (2 episodes, but final ratings merged them)
- 2.81 million viewers
- 1.0/3 A18-49

Once Upon A Time in Wonderland
- 3.53 million viewers
- 0.9/3 A18-49

And that's just for the hour - The Vampire Diaries demo out-rated everything on NBC last night, and only lost to Glee by a tenth of a point.

PS - It would seem last week's 0.7 might not have been a fluke for Reign, because it got a 0.7 again this week.

But you got to admire the CW restraint today, since there was sports in some markets on the CW they waited until after the final numbers to release a press release:

For the night (8-10pm) The CW outrated NBC in A18-49 (1.0/3), A18-34 (1.0/3), and W18-34 (1.3/4). It’s the first time ever that The CW has outrated NBC’s regular Thursday night lineup in A18-49 in head to head competition.

THE Vampire Diaries again outrated ABC, NBC, and Fox in A18-34 (1.3/5), and outrated both ABC and NBC in A18-49 (1.3/4). It was flat from week to week in both demos.

REIGN outrated NBC in the hour in A18-34 (0.6/2). REIGN was up 7% in total viewers week to week (1.8M), and was flat in A18-34 and A18-49 (0.7/2).

On Thursday nights anyway. So they aren't doing quite as badly as their Thursdays make it look, but that's what's leading some to say NBC should just ditch comedy entirely, or at least on Thursday nights.

Personally I don't think that'll happen - in my opinion NBC will never pull a CW and ditch comedy entirely. Though admittedly it probably wouldn't hurt to ditch all the current ones and perhaps maybe try comedies on a different night.

It's not the first time. There was similar talk back in the 80s and then The Cosby Show came along. Comedy will never die; it just goes through cycles.

Yeah, at the moment Wednesday and Thursdays are weak nights for NBC, but thanks to The Voice their Monday's and Tuesday's are still okay. Though even The Voice may be starting to show a bit of age. And Fridays have Grimm, but that's basically why I had to change my mind about Revolution ending up two seasons and done, because with as weak as NBC is in some areas I can now see that it's possible for Revolution to live another season.
(Though it would be without me, because I can't seem to muster the interest during the few rare times I've had so far to watch the episodes currently back-logged on my DVR. Weirdly it's the same with Once Upon A Time, except I've watched about five episodes of Revolution but have currently watched none of Once Upon A Time - I guess I must've disliked season two more than I thought.)

DVR7

Week Seven
(Nov. 4-10)

The Vampire Diaries
Live 1.3
DVR7 ??

Arrow
Live 1.0
DVR7 ??

The Originals
Live 0.9
DVR7 1.7

Supernatural
Live 0.9
DVR7 1.5

Reign

DVR7 ??

The Tomorrow People

America's Next Top Model
Live 0.4

Hart of Dixie
Live 0.4
DVR7 0.7

The Carrie Diaries
Live 0.3
DVR7 0.5

Beauty and the Beast
Live 0.3
DVR7 0.5

Interesting for the first time since the season started Beauty and the Beast failed to rise 100%. Anyway to make the list this week a show had to rise by 61%.

BONUS:

The Big Bang Theory (CBS)
Live 4.9
DVR7 7.5

Sleepy Hollow (FOX)
Live 2.5
DVR7 4.3

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (ABC)
Live 2.5
DVR7 4.2

Once Upon A Time (ABC)
Live 2.1
DVR7 3.4

Revolution (NBC)
Live 1.4
DVR7 2.5

Grimm (NBC)
Live 1.3
DVR7 2.5

Dracula (NBC)
Live 0.9
DVR7 1.8

Once Upon A Time in Wonderland (ABC)
Live 0.9
DVR7 1.5

And now just for fun the final season of Nikita has finally started, so...

Friday, November 22, 2013

The Carrie Diaries
- 0.71 million viewers
- 0.3/1 A18-49

Nikita
- 0.74 million viewers
- 0.2/1 A18-49

So, as expected, the final season of Nikita is not going to reach series highs. Then again all things considered I doubt the CW expected better, which is why Nikita only got six episodes and will be aired during the holidays. After all, if they'd had ANY hope they'd have scheduled Nikitas final season differently.

Wonderland is doomed, and Dracula probably is, too-- although maybe that's good enough for Fridays after Grimm. SHIELD is matching Sleepy Hollow and outperforming Once Upon A Time-- which is either good for SHIELD or bad for Once Upon A Time.

Good news for CW. I know this will allow them to charge more for commercial time, but I wonder if it will also allow them to pick up affiliates, therefore increasing their penetration and potential ratings.

Who knows? But at the very least if this keeps up it would encourage the current affiliates to sign again when contracts run out.

And now *drumroll*

Tuesday, November 26, 2013

The Originals
- 2.38 million viewers
- 1.1/3 A18-49

Supernatural
- 2.39 million viewers
- 1.1/3 A18-49

So, as expected, with the higher rated The Originals this week Supernatural also sees a ratings increase. It's magic! Magic, I tell you!

Dude, at this point I suspect Supernatural will end like Superman did - when the cast and crew say so. Because Superman would've gotten an eleventh season had it wanted it. So, yeah, I think it's more than possible at this point that Supernatural will (if cast and crew are willing) go beyond season ten.

There's some other shows on the CW where this'll probably hold true as well - not ending until the cast/crew say when - The Vampire Diaries almost certainly won't end until cast and crew make the decision. But also could end up being true for The Originals and Arrow, as well.

To be honest, I could see some of the above shows going until the CW folds, unless somehow the CW lives as a network a lot longer than anyone expects. Then I guess some of them might end before that - otherwise it's likely at least some of the above won't go down until the network goes down.

Yeah, the CW doesn't seem like a long-term concern. Still, it would be cool to see Supernatural become the Gunsmoke of genre shows (well, in the US, anyway-- Doctor Who has already done that).

Beauty And The Beast
Live 0.3
DVR7 0.5

Not surprising the list was short this week considering a show had to rise 57% to make the list this week. Since next week will contain the results from the week Nikita premiered it'll probably be on the list since it's live was a 0.2 so it doesn't have to go up much to have a drastic percentage rise.

And now it's time for the BONUS ROUND:

The Big Bang Theory (CBS)

Okay, so it's that time again - when shows on the CW start having their mid-season hiatus, and that's when I post the pure Live Same Day A18-49 ratings so far:

As of this point, it's looking like Beauty and the Beast and The Carrie Diaries will not live past the current season and I'm still betting (though the CW is delaying mightily) when the mid-season schedule is finally released Beauty and the Beast will be moving to Friday. Right now things look okay(ish) for both Reign and The Tomorrow People, though if one or both of the mid-season shows came on strong then that could hurt one or both.

Now, as I said once before I suppose I could see a case being made for The Carrie Diaries getting another short season, but it isn't very likely - it only got a second season because the CW wanted/needed schedule spackle, and next season if the CW needs a low-rated spackle show for scheduling purposes they have Hart of Dixie, which make no mistake will get some kind of forth season. THAT pretty much kills any chance/hope The Carrie Diaries has.

Hart of Dixie

Rather than reposting this whole thing as new ratings come in I'll be editing this one - basically that's just three/four edits (not counting Nikita) because most shows (again not counting Nikita) only have one or two more episodes before they're on hiatus.

Hmm. Tomorrow People started better than Reign, but dropped, and now they both seem to have stabilized with Reign slightly higher. However, Reign must be very expensive to produce, so I'm betting Tomorrow People has the better chance of surviving.

Some pre-list notes this time: This was the week The Originals didn't air a new episode, so of course it's not on the list. Also, this week a show had to rise 56% to make the list - guess what show didn't make the list? Nikita (among others), but Nikita only got a live rating of 0.2, which means she could've ONLY went up to a 0.3 with seven days of added DVR. A few other CW shows didn't make the list, but a kind soul supplied the numbers for those, except for Hart of Dixie.

I don't know, since the CW (finally) released their mid-season schedule today I'd say your gut might be off - Reign is staying where it's at, while The Tomorrow People is moving to Mondays. Granted that's not a bad sign by itself, but considering the CW was once really pushing the Amell night it's weird that they'd break that up if they wasn't leaning toward Reign over The Tomorrow People.

Also, to be considered, TTPs mid-season finale clocked in at a 0.5, which looks worse with Reign having gotten a few 0.7s recently. Though, to be fair, Reign could also drop a little this week.

Said mid-season schedule also confirms Beauty and the Beast is dead in the water - in March it'll disappear from the schedule (with, I think, 6 unaired episodes), also that with the move to Friday for Hart of Dixie it's looking likely that a final season for HoD is gonna look a lot like the final season of Nikita.

PS - I'm sure the unaired Beauty and the Beast episodes will air sometime/somewhere, but the CW did leave that hanging.

Interesting. Good for Reign. It's nice to see a historical drama doing fairly well.
