Oddly, I think the news that Paul Lee is out at ABC is the worse news for Peggy over the lower ratings. That news really makes me think Marvel's Agent Carter, Galavant, Nashville, and Castle will be among the first to go.
Galavant is like The Muppets and would be out either way, because unlike last season this season it's only rating two tenths higher than quickly canceled Wicked City. And The Muppets are only two tenths up from that.
However, the news that Lee is out makes me think several of the other above mentioned borderline series are likely on the way out as well - it also may spell bad news for Last Man Standing, Dr. Ken, and American Crime, as well. And could make awesome starting but lately floundering Quantico more questionable than I first assumed. Previously I was thinking likely renewed for that one now I may have to change that to a toss up.
But, yeah, as for The X-Files I believe FOX is probably on their knees at this very moment doing their level best to convince all parties involved in The X-Files to please, please, pretty please with sugar and a cherry on top come back and give them more.
(Despite this week coming in a bit lower, but that's likely because Monday was a holiday and it was up against The Grammy's this week. And it was still above a 2.0 A18-49 which considering the season FOX has been having to date... Yeah, FOX most certainly wants more of that.)
Tim (needs lighter): ...and none of you smoke.
Art (looks at armada): Nobody smokes? This is Kentucky, not Sausalito. What's wrong with you people!
(
per capita in KY toss a cat u'll hit a smoker! So that's where
Justified puts the fiction in the show.)
